NEW: More than two dozen #dogs are now resting and recuperating at all four of our shelters following their emergency flight from Texas to #Massachusetts yesterday afternoon. As a result, the dogs were suffering and it was clear they needed to be moved off the property, but finding transport partners for large #dogs is especially challenging amid the dog population crisis. 135 dogs were adopted during our Ready, Set, #Dog! adoptathon last week (a big thank you to everyone who adopted and shared the news)! VP Mike Keiley says holding those special adoption events has allowed us to remain in a position to help with emergencies like this.
“Unfortunately, it seems like these situations are only increasing while there are fewer organizations in a position to help, so it’s more important now than ever that we’re able to step up,” says Keiley 3/ #dogsofmastodon
The dogs range in age from 12-weeks to 10-years-old and are mostly mixes of large breeds, including Pit Bulls, Labrador Retrievers, Hounds, and Catahoulas. They’ll be available for adoption following their state-mandated quarantine and after getting any medical care they need.
