Part 2: protecting instances

One significant failure mode for the current #FediVerse is the burden carried by the instance admins. This opens up some key attack vectors, which have been suggested in the rumors of Facebook's terms for providing financial support in exchange for ceding autonomy.

Whether or not these rumors are true, the danger is real and needs to be dealt with.
