So, after months on Mastodon, through two different public servers and my own self-hosted instance (which lasted all of 3 months), I'm finally writing an #introduction post.
Born, raised, and still residing in the DC metro area, I'm an #IT Support technician full-time, and #electronics sales associate part-time (#PC / #Apple / TVs / etc.). Also a #motorsports fan, specifically #NASCAR#IMSA and #F1. Always interested in #infosec and #internet news, along with general #technology and #science news. And somehow I have some time to spend #gaming, with current favorites of #Fortnite (Zero Build of course) and #Forza (any of them!).
I don't tend to post a lot, but may boost content related to the above interests and more from time to time.
@DevAttendant It was really just an experiment to see what kind of resources might be needed, and also to slightly expand my limited Linux knowledge. I knew it wasn't something I was going to do long-term, just more of a "see how long I want to keep it going" thing. But I'd rather give the monthly VPS cost to someone who has a better idea of what they're doing to properly set up and maintain such a server. 🙂
@DevAttendant No, I'm on a public instance maintained by an admin in my regional area of the world. I just donate what I would've been paying in the VPS cost for my own instance to help cover the costs of running it.
