@SubtleBlade For clarity, the oil is not found. There may be remote sensing data (e.g. seismic, gravity survey) that suggest a good potential for oil, but the massive reserves are not discovered until proven by drilling. Even if the first well finds oil, there will be no reserves until validated by multiple wells and an economic case made for exploiting the oil in such a harsh environment.

@SubtleBlade Absolutely there should be no question of expanding hydrogen exploration to new areas, particularly very fragile environments like the Antarctic. However, it is important to get terminology correct. The media screaming the word "discovery" makes future drilling more a fait accompli; "It's found, so get over yourself". It's not found and it's important to recognise that.

I have seen media hyping of the natural resources "discovery" word so many times. It's just that, hype.
