Does anyone know if it is possible to define in the so that one can directly control 10 with Super+1, Super+2 all the way up to Super+9 and Super+0? On my system the Settings app only offers to customize shortcuts for workspaces 1 to 4.

GNOME Settings app Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue.

@amadeus you will have to use dconf editor, navigate to /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings

And configure them there, you can also create a custom dconf file with your custom changes so you can move it with you if you switch distros.
