I will argue to the death (not seriously 😁) that people cannot control if they get diabetes. They are still finding out more and more every day. It wasn't that long ago that people were either diagnosed at a very young age and were type 1, or you were diagnosed later and were type 2. They now know that's incorrect. Yet there are still only recognized diagnoses of those two types.
