KatM, I conduct content review for a client working on #type1diabetes research.
This report on arsenic in drinking water leading to #type2diabetes is worth sharing so people know their risk factors:
"Exposure to drinking water contaminated with arsenic below the current regulatory limit is associated with an elevated risk for type 2 diabetes (#T2D) in urban US communities, with the correlation being stronger in women and individuals with a lower body mass index (BMI)."
Omega_Scribet, The University of Chicago:
'Inverse vaccine” shows potential to treat multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases'
"has shown in the lab setting that it can completely reverse autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes — all without shutting down the rest of the immune system."

'Synthetically glycosylated antigens for the antigen-specific suppression of established immune responses'
"Our findings show that pGal–antigen therapy invokes mechanisms of immune tolerance to resolve antigen-specific inflammatory T-cell responses and suggest that the therapy may be applicable across autoimmune diseases."

johnefrancis, @Omega_Scribet wow!
VTDARKSIM, Oh good, I’m glad this bullshit persists with the #Dexcom #G7 😒
#WTFDexcom #CGM #T1D #Type1Diabetes #Diabetes #DiabeticProblems
VTDARKSIM, @johnefrancis interesting. I’m on an iPhone, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Dexcom screwed that software pooch too.
johnefrancis, @VTDARKSIM my daughter thinks this is a great way for her to get the latest iPhone 😂
Natalie, I have what I think is trigger finger. Apparently a lot of type 1s get it??? But considering all the ways I absolutely disrespect my hands and fingers with all my hobbies, I'm not surprised.
I finished the garden steps project! But a few steps need some tweaks and the constant storms have washed away a lot of seeds. At least the dirt farming is finished!
Mary625, Does anyone else who uses #dexcom have issues with the adhesive lately? The last 3 sensors are so damn itchy!
Mary625, I will argue to the death (not seriously 😁) that people cannot control if they get diabetes. They are still finding out more and more every day. It wasn't that long ago that people were either diagnosed at a very young age and were type 1, or you were diagnosed later and were type 2. They now know that's incorrect. Yet there are still only recognized diagnoses of those two types.

Mary625, My diabetes is absolutely genetic and it's both type 1 and 2. But we were all misdiagnosed because of when it hit us. There's a study at the University of Chicago that is proving, not only that many people are misdiagnosed, but that it is genetic and there are hundreds of types.
Regardless, as we both agree, diet and exercise will always help your health. In the US it's becoming harder and harder to eat well.

shanselman, Here’s a great short film called “Type 1” I supported via KickStarter. Share it and watch it. Only 15 min. Shortened Link to Film: http://bit.ly/type1film
docpop, @shanselman thanks for sharing this. We enjoyed it.
shanselman, @pikesley welcome to my life is a type one diabetic. You’ll notice that we didn’t last very long on the walking dead literally any other apocalypse film lol
Natalie, I was finally getting into the garage and tidying it up and then a hypo struck and now I can't do anything for the next two hours because I have lost the Ability to Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
onelson, Have had my infusion sets start leaking insulin within 24 hours for the past 3 or 4 sets. Since they are all from the same box, I dropped a line to Tandem via their contact form. I wonder if they'll send a replacement or what will happen.
Dexcom have a form specifically setup for reporting failures/requesting replacements, but I didn't see anything like that on the Tandem site.
#T1D #Type1Diabetes
onelson, @Mary625 I never heard back from them via email so I may have to call. Yep.
Mary625, Good luck! I hope they replace them for you
onelson,
ricmac, A nice reminder that modern technology can still do wonders and make a meaningful impact on peoples lives. #T1D #type1diabetes
Mary625, Wow! My grandma died in 1990 after she went into a coma when her blood sugar dropped to 40. She was 89 at the time. I think it was the paramedics who were able to read her blood sugar. I don't remember my grandfather or uncles reading her blood sugar, ever. I just remember them giving her the insulin.
My Dad, if I remember correctly, always had a glucose meter.
Technically has sure come a long way since then. I just wish it was affordable for all who need it
cheryl, I don’t know where to store all the #Diabetes supplies anymore..
cheryl, @bencurthoys do you like the patches for the CGMs?
I’m always looking for some
bencurthoys, @cheryl Yeah they're fine. I got these:

The first time I didn't realise you peeled the stuff off both sides, so I thought it was annoyingly crinkly, but once I figured that out no complaints.
BrianAllred, Fucking hate it when my infusion site doesn't take and my basal isn't delivered for hours. Especially if the timing is around meal time, because I can't know if I'm rising because of a bad site or because I underestimated my meal's carbs. My only indicator is a radical angry mood swing that leaves me upset and embarrassed after my blood sugar finally comes down.
It's been a fucking night.
BrianAllred, @nerb @diabetes I definitely get irritable when low, too. I'm not sure if my anger when high is because I'm high or because I know I'm high, lol. I have a feeling it's both, mostly because I used to run on a really short fuse the last few months before my diagnosis. My temper mellowed drastically once my A1c came down.
But who knows, that might've also been diet, exercise, life changes, etc. Hard to tell for sure sometimes. 😅
Mary625, I hope you're feeling better. I still don't think to check my BG when I'm suddenly in a crappy mood
onelson, My body when I try to feed it before late afternoon #T1D #Type1Diabetes
MJones, Had a call, from one of the nursing team, checking in, to see how I’m doing with my pre-op medication..(hint-not good) nurse advised to reduce by 50%. Oh thank god😮💨 Going in on Wednesday so, fingers crossed it all goes well, and I AM the first patient they get to on the day. #Type1Diabetes #DontLeaveMeToGoIntoHypo
IHI, 👋 Meet EDENT1FI - a new IHI project that wants to improve our ability to detect #Type1Diabetes in youngsters before the body's insulin-producing cells have been badly damaged.
