Honestly this starts to feel like the fossil fuel industry tries to mix up the bs carbon offset markets, with emission trading. The first are complete bullshit as they just lead to some rich guys pretending to save emissions in a place without too much government oversight and make a lot of money while doing it. A lot of them are quite simply scams. Emissions trading however can be actually usefull. That is a limit of certificats, which allow somebody to emit a certain amount at a certain time. The number of certificates is lowered over time and are issued by some sort og government. That actually can meaningfully increase the cost of emissions. Basicly it works like a more dynamic carbon tax.
Like, let’s just redistribute any personal wealth, including stock and loans and all that bullshit, once it exceeds a billion dollars. A billion is FAR more than enough for any one person.
