In solid gang territory you’ll face extortion and violence and all sorts of issues.
Disputed territories can become literal war zones with massacre and war crimes that would make the Nuremberg judges blush.
That’s not to say solidly controlled areas are safe, massacre still happen there too.

Zedstrian, Per the legend, it’s not clear of cartels as in much of the Yucatán peninsula, but has smaller local groups. The colors should probably have been made less similar to avoid confusion.

From my experience, it’s common for several different gangs to operate in the same area with no issues, and when there are actual territories controlled it’s usually on the neighborhood level and not the city or state level.
