I got this yesterday but they deleted their reply - the only risk I take in my life is to participate in my chamber choir, re COVID-19. When we collaborate with another choir I mask until the performance.
When with the 20-ish others in my chamber choir, I listen closely for coughing or sneezing and I assess my risk based on the space that I'm in.
Please get off my back. Please. I want COVID zero as much as everyone else. Us musicians need to make risk assessments considering our livelihood.
As a musician, I simply cannot annunciate as articulately as I can and as the music demands behind even the best mask. Consonants are lost and vowels aren't as articulate.
I would say that through working through a mask that I have become much better skilled in this area but it doesn't translate to an audience in a cathedral.
This is the only risk I take. I'm still #CovidZero. Though COVID has been in this house, I have avoided it. Four years later I endeavour to maintain this.
But to call me an idiot, as this work is part of my livelihood, is an asshole move.
Are you also telling nurses and doctors who knowingly expose themselves to AGMP that they're also idiots?
The music must go on. My bottom line depends on it. Do you want this instance to exist? I must sing to the level of excellence that my chamber ensemble demands.
I used to work in finance. We calculated risk based on a client's tolerance. I'm doing exactly that with my work.
I am so tired of being persecuted online because I shared a first-person post of my music and the view from the stage. You don't know what I'm wearing behind the camera.
It's been four years and I've continued to be careful to avoid COVID. I'm comfortable and confident in my methods.
