This one is pretty fun. Not the most in-depth “vampire survivors” clone out there, but it’s silly and free. Plenty of characters to unlock, more gear unlocks with characters but still after 20 ish characters my builds are always the same… Might be doing something wrong.
Def worth a try at minimum. Doubly so if you’re into the whole animu vtuber thing, or so I hear, so… the usual grain of salt.
I don’t know a thing about these streamers but the game plays fine. Some items require some reading, eg. bouncy balls -weapon scales with the bust size of the lady, cutting board -weapon does the inverse… The game doesn’t tell these stats, but the wiki does
I played it for a bit yesterday, and I will say it’s a pretty good clone, though I think there’s some balance issues. However, it has some unique additions not found in the original, so it’s certainly a unique offering.
I loved this game, but the “true ending” felt like a weird design left turn. It traded the enjoyable platforming and combat for literal hell - and I’m no stranger to “getting gud”. The difficulty (of the true ending sequence) was RNG heavy and unfun (for me).
Excellent Metroidvania. I’ve only played Cave Story+, but the differences between the two are supposedly mostly minor, so I can definitely recommend this.
I’ve only played the original Freeware title. I can definitely recommend this. At the time I played it, it had an incredible impact on me, opening the door to the world of indies and the freeware scene in general. I can credit it with having a direct influence on me trying game development as a hobby. It’s wild how amazing of a game and how much polish it has for a free game made in 2004 by one dude. 20 years ago!
… Also, I’ve been reading forum threads debating if this is a metroidvania since at least 2010, possibly even earlier!
Huh! I never knew there was a way to get it to play on Android! Thanks!
Awesome game by the way. If you have finished it once, go look up the secret ending. Super hard to beat, but gives a lot of extra lore on what’s going on. There are YouTube videos about it if you are just curious.
Really good game and the expansions really help with the world. I put a lot of hours into this game, but Total War:Warhammer blows this out of the water.
Sadly, it’s actually a hidden-object game, not a point-&-click, which would be more along the lines of Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, or Technobabylon. I don’t understand why Amazon doesn’t go for far greater titles closer to these instead…
Thanks, I should really stop just skimming the tags for my descriptions! I guess they go with whatever they can get a good deal on; there are a few others that are probably still available that at least claim to be point-and-click adventures.
It looks like they’re releasing a sequel soon, so I’m guessing that’s why it’s free right now. Not the first game on the Mac I have that became unplayable fairly quickly after release. Actually, looking at the release date of 2021 for the game, it was never playable except on older Macs, because macOS Catalina (10.15) was released in 2019 and was the first version of macOS to not support 32-bit applications. So the game was already 2 years out of date.
