She works for the right wing version of scholastic. She was also home schooled, so when would she have even gotten a book from scholastic? The whole story is bullshit.
Oh, she’s a lying liar, but I was homeschooled and I had Scholastic through a stupid homeschool mommy group. It was honestly the best part of being homeschooled, getting the catalog and my mom decided how many books we could afford to buy that time around and how many books we could each pick out and then going through the catalog and deciding which ones I wanted. I was isolated, abused, getting a shitty education, and had no friends, but the one thing I could do was read well above my age level, so I read like there was no tomorrow. I was reading novels by the time I was 6 and in elementary and middle school I was reading over 300 full length novels a year, because I had nothing else to do with my life. I read everything and anything I could get my hands on.
Good on nexus to routinely stand against bigotry by taking down mods containing it. Every time a game comes out people make mods removing any lgbtqia+ persons or mention and I’ve seen several where they make minority characters white to “remove politics” and nexus slaps them down every time.
Recently in BG3 people made mods to make wyll white within days of game release and nexus took them down
I would bet dollars to doughnuts that it is, if only because I remember a time where these mods were removed from where they were hosted (pre-nexus mods) because they added lesbian content. They did it because they wanted to objectify women.
It’s the same kinds of people, if not for the same exact reason. (Objectifying women is the overall reason though.)
I hear you. The manosphere really took off after the Gamergate stuff, so it became cool to hate women even if you weren’t religious. So, I’ll grant you that it’s largely from the same kind of misguided, socially stunted men.
But I can’t help but hope that not all LGBT mod representation in the past was purely fetish material.

Oh of course not, I am just saying that these people often do things because they’re angry and lashing out. They’re almost always Conservative (in my experience) and the goals are the same.
What I find so… surprising isn’t the word… curious, is that these same people can do two things that are the opposite, but with the same goal. Originally, it was to make women into sexual objects – you’ve likely seen the 90’s movie trope of the ‘hot women kissing whoaaaaaaa!’ It wasn’t meant to be positive towards 2SLGBTQ+ people, it was meant to degrade women. (I dunno if anyone else remembers, but when I was in college in, sigh, the late 90’s, every 5th guy had a poster of two girls kissing – it was that ubiquitous)
Now, that same type of guy finds the thing to do is deny women, in that same situation, because now they aren’t objects. I can almost guarantee you the guy who made this mod is: White, in his 20’s, conservative, middle/upper class, listens to Joe Rogan/Andrew Tate type of stuff, and is into ‘Crypto’. Back in, sigh, the 90’s, these people still existed, they were just more accepted. The ‘boys will be boys’ people; think of a young person who now looks to Brett Kavanaugh as a role model.
That’s kinda how it used to be.
But I guess there’s enough idiots now defending microtransactions with such clever takes like “nobody forces you to buy those!”
I just want to make it clear that we don’t like Nazis either—we wish no-one held those views. But some people do hold those and other extreme views. Given that, we don’t think that censorship (including through demonetizing publications) makes the problem go away—in fact, it makes it worse.
Hurr durr freeze peach! This guy is just another “free speech advocate” like Musk, just another shitty person who can’t understand lack of accountability just grows more Nazis, and probably harbors nazi sympathy for one shitty reason or another.
The only people that moderation, demonetization, deplatforming, and good old accountability makes things worse for is the Nazis and similar shitheads, and fuck those pieces of shit, i have no sympathy for them, nor do they have sympathy for the rest of us.
Time to start filtering out and blocking the entire substack domain, just like X/shitter, and time for the good folks blogging and posting on there, like NBA hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to find a new platform.
For anyone who doesn’t know Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has an outstanding political blog, he does cover some basketball and sports related topics, especially when politics is mixed into the topic, but it’s mostly about politics, current events, and civil/human rights. Kareem’s work is very well written and well researched and he provides very nuanced and experienced opinions based on his decades of advocacy work in civil, human, and equal rights and his connection to the various movements dating back to the 60’s.
How is banning nudity sexist? I can see if they would allow guys to go topless, but not girls. That could be argued. But just because more women on twitch are making money off their bodies than men, doesn’t mean that banning nudity is sexist. Am I overlooking something?
For example: “Body writing on female-presenting breasts” was forbidden, while there was no such rule for “male-presenting breasts”. There were other such rules that only affected “female-presenting whatever” with no “male presenting” counterpart.
Nope. I didn’t know. I don’t see it as a bad thing though. It’s more a critisism of Twitch having to make up rules all the time just to validate their approach to streaming. I’ve been against all forms of sexualised or sexually suggestive content on twitch ever since the first hottub meta. It’s not that I am against it. They could have porn of they wanted. My issue is, that they argue it’s not sexual when it clearly is.
Other mods on the same site can change Wyll, a Black warlock whose family plays a significant role in the main story, to have white skin. Another completely changes the characters in Far Cry Primal to make them appear more “central European”—in other words, more white.
When asked during a legal deposition about the cars, clothes, watches and furniture, Rinsch claimed that they were props purchased for the set of “Conquest” and that he’d paid for them directly with the production money from Netflix. He changed his tune in a later arbitration case with Netflix, where he claimed that not only was the money contractually his to do with what he pleased, but Netflix owed him more than $14 million in unpaid invoices.
A lot of people think he’s fantastic just because he’s nice to fans, but he’s not such a nice person if you’re LGBTQIA, atheist, or otherwise fall outside of his narrow opinions about what’s acceptable
It’s kinda like people think my community is “friendly,” but not so much if you’re black, gay, trans, undocumented, or anything else that falls outside the norm
