@mjgardner That sucks. For a while in the 00's (when they were under the consent decree) MS played nice with the world, but since getting out from under the supervision of the courts they have slid back into their old, monopolistic ways it seems.
I do see that there is an extension available from Gitlab itself, so maybe that can help you.
