If someone claims to be an ally of #queer people, and they try to whitewash Soviet, Cuban, or Asian communist history, they are not a true #LGBTQ ally.
It's true that many #queer people happen to be #leftist. And that in no small part thanks to modern leftist movements who sought to form solidarity with us.
But just as #queerhistory faces erasure from liberal and fascist regimes, so too does communist queer history face erasure and revisionism.
The truth is most #authoritarian#communist regimes weren't kind to their #LGBTQ populations, and many #queer people faced tyranny and hardship in these regimes as much as they did in many western regimes.
From Stalin Outlawing and punishing Homosexuality to Che Gueva torturing queer sex workers in Cuba, many communist leaders and governments had labeled our existence as a "western decadence." and we still face opression in places like China and North Korea.
