The oldest entry on IndieWire's list of the best teen dramas was first broadcast in 1979, but the majority of shows that made the cut are from after 2000, when there was a huge boom in the genre. @RVLara23 "My So-Called Life" was the first show we thought of when we saw the title of the article — probably because we watched it when we were actual teens rather than hungover students (ahem, "The O.C.").
We weren't surprised at the result of this — 55% of respondents said that "Buffy" is the best teen drama ever, which is exactly what @IndieWire said too. But that's where you diverged: While fediverse folk's order of preference was "Freaks and Geeks," "Daria" and finally "The O.C" with just 3% of the vote, IndieWire placed the California teen show at No. 2. “The O.C.” asked teens to treat their drama with authenticity (whether it was death, divorce, or just a dumb crush, the stakes always felt as high as when you’re 17), but it also wanted its audience to see people from all sides. All its choices were purposeful and progressive, which is why it remains one of the most beloved teen dramas this century," wrote Wilson Chapman.
