Here's the next step in the Republican plan to make it illegal to be transgender. Texas Governor Greg Abbot wants to ban transgender people from being teachers. What profession will he want to ban us from next? When will he want to ban us from appearing in public places?
I've been getting my house cleaned up and tommorrow I'm calling a realtor so I can sell my house and get out of this repressive state.
In Calif. the rule that allowed employers to fire you was only changed in 2001-2004 for me, at Universal studios, legislation in 2017 for all of Calif. The biggest problem was I was out in real life before coming out at work, It was scary going out at night alone, and this was in gay friendly neighborhoods, (Hollywood) The community that was going out to clubs was pretty large, but only a small % were living full time. This is an attack on the gay community's rights not #trans
Considering that there were attempts last year to ban drag shows and to pass a don't say gay law, yes, I'd say this is part of an overall strategy of attacking lgbt people. It just so happens that transgender people are the primary focus.
I agree. And I hope people don't ever forget that much of the unreported story around drag queen reading hours specifically was that gay men were intentionally taking some of the heat off trans & other queer kids and teens by making themselves targets instead.
