Well, I disagree about Foundation. I cancelled my Apple TV membership over that.
It wasn’t that the show didn’t have any relationship to the novels; it’s that the wrriting was awful and I hated all of the characters. Give me at least one to like.
That’s fair enough, I haven’t read the Foundation books but after cancelling Netflix after they butchered The Witcher I totally get why you’d cancel Apple TV. Maybe I’ll wait to read the books until the series is done lol.
I’m curious how they’ll adapt this. The best parts of the stories happen in the Murderbot’s head. I’m guessing there will be lots of record scratches, voice overs, and breaking the fourth wall.
I’ve watched all available episodes so far and whilst I’m hoping that something good will become of the show, so far it seems to suffer from the same thing almost every other show does these days: insert a few titans here and there or something else relating to them and fill the rest of the time with often pointless drama…I’m storming off, but oh we’re on a ship, didn’t make it far, …I’m not going with you, j/k ofc I am, …why aren’t you talking to me/why aren’t YOU returning my calls/dead silence etc
For example the ‘past’ scenes with grandmother, have shown her to be a much more likeable character than any of the three main characters in the ‘present’.
I did like the tune from ep2 credits enough to record it, as I couldn’t find it in OST, so there’s that
The people conflict definitely seems forced for effect, and consequently doesn’t really hit the mark unfortunately. I agree with you on the grandmother, as she seems to be the closest to an actual person compared to the stereotypical military men she’s surrounded by that could have been pulled from any other similar series.
I’m with you. I’ve seen the season so far and will watch it through being enough of a fan of the (first two Godzilla) films.
It seems they’ve struggled to create a premise for this show. The general idea of linking two stories from the beginning and present of Monarch is good, and I get the sense that they’ve got some sort of ending they’ve decided they want to get to, but they’re not really clear on why this story should be told with these characters.
Godzilla is a lot of fun the few times he’s turned up so far, I’m hopeful that there will be more screentime for him as the series progresses, as the few short scenes we’ve gotten just make me really want another monster movie instead of the series we got.
I’m also hesitant. Shows like this can sometimes reel you in n with a stunning representation of a certain historic period, and then completely fall off when the story had nowhere to go.
I wish I could get a blank check to fuck around and make some bullshit no one questions during development, production, or post. Two seasons and this show has moved about ten feet. I can’t fucking believe it.
