AToM_exe,

Is it possible to block comics from this artist?

I post them regularly, AToM_exe. I'm unsure how KBin works but I'll just block you in the hopes that you won't have to see them anymore then. Otherwise just block me lol.

BruceTwarzen,

Oh god pleas yes. Haven't seen one in a long time and they somehow got worse

Gregorech,

You can block a user, but if she doesn’t post it herself, like this was not, you just ignore it and move on. What don’t you like about pizzacake she’s funny more than fifty percent of the time. Others are better more are worse.

I personally never ever ever find her comics funny, I genuinely can't understand what people like about them. The art is bad, the jokes (when I can even find them) are bad, the execution is bad. Even the few times there's a funny idea in there, I find that it just never lands. It's just really bad IMO.

I know she gets a lot of actual hate, and I want to make it clear I'm not of that crowd, but it does annoy me how much they pop up everywhere despite them being (IMO) of really low quality. Every day there was a new one on the front page of Reddit, and now they're showing up on Kbin too, and they really haven't gotten better lol

I guess it's also my fault for always clicking on them, thinking "surely, EVENTUALLY there's gonna be at least ONE funny one", and always being disappointed.

Gregorech,

I feel the same way about Ziggy…

"I don't care for chocolate. I keep trying and trying, but I just don't like it. I see people liking it, but it's just gross. I ask them to explain why they like it, but they can't. I go into every baking shop and complain about all the chocolate, but they keep serving it. I guess my palate is just too sophisticated to be duped like all these other people."

If you don't like the strip, move on. Let people like the things they like. It's completely unnecessary for you to like them.

“Ah get it away!”

“It’s just a butterfly…”

“Is it poisonous?!”

“…Ay dios mio… No, it’s not poisonous, Hank!”

Damn I kinda miss the edits these comics would get. The comics themselves are alright but the edit wars in the comments were hilarious. Hope the artist is getting less hate nowadays though

I find the art style and plain humor really enjoyable honestly. I can see why it’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

RadButNotAChad,

Oddly enough one of the things I miss the most about reddit. They’re never genius, but they are usually fun and give me a chuckle. Reminds me of the 4 panels from the newspapers when I was a kid.

Also the artist has a good sense of humor about them. Either you know Finna Jerk It or you don’t.

DrMango,

The artist created an onlyfans to fulfill the meme of the shitpost edits. She has a scary good sense of humor about it, I’d say.

STUPIDVIPGUY,

what kind of kid doesn’t love butterflies?

also don’t teach your children to kill things they don’t like, ESPECIALLY when you’re a guest in their natural habitat. Killing bugs in your home is acceptable

Aesthesiaphilia,

The kids are NOT alright

STUPIDVIPGUY,

bitchy parents lead to bitchy kids. I’ve never liked this comic or its creator

i know it’s just a comic, but if your child is actually whining about one of the most beautiful creatures on our planet, asking you to kill it for no reason, while sipping on soda, you have failed as a parent

Aesthesiaphilia,

I assume that's the point of the final panel - her realization of that

Conyak,

I’m not sure I understand. Are a lot of people afraid of butterflies?

You've never seen children go ape shit over seeing a bug? Lol.

GBU_28,

I have never seen anyone react with anything other than general passing interest towards a butterfly

WraithGear,
@WraithGear@lemmy.world avatar

Thats the root of the joke. Its commenting on the fact that the younger generation does not go outside much. Though previous generations have done our damndest to make going outside as terrible as can be imagined

GBU_28,

I don’t see any generational clues in the comic. Nor is going outside “terrible”. The presence of the butterfly suggests the environment in this area is “normal” and the indoor kids are the oddity.

You know, there's genuinely a LOT less butterflies in my life nowadays.

A good chunk of that is probably the fact that I moved from the country to the cities, but man, I see much fewer butterflies. I could easily understand if you end up not seeing a butterfly in person until you're 17, I can see that being spooky. They're spiders with wings, they're moths but skinnier, like the Nightmare before Christmas.

If your kids grow up with an ipad, they try to touch every screen. I've seen multiple kids pantomime a phone not with a pinky and thumb, but a flat hand like a smartphone. Sheep aren't scary but if you've never seen one in your entire life and get the chance to pet one you're gonna be apprehensive, and you're gonna be scared if one runs towards you without a fence between you and it.
