Does anyone know if is going to be a thing this year? I haven’t seen anything, but I’m looking for an excuse to play with this thing.

On Saturday's noon eastern stream, we're going to try to get @shyra 's Macintosh Centris 610 running. https://youtube.com/live/Ox59SQe73qY?feature=share

Lol. There were some folks sweating on last weekend's stream! Reminder: never repeat anything that you see me do on my streams! ⚡

@shyra Tech Ambrosia’s board may have chimed.

Was that the only problem that I plugged the speaker into the LED connector? Probably not. I found broken traces on @shyra 's Centris 610 too. Let's see if we can get it running Thursday at noon eastern. https://youtube.com/live/HeYoRvEyQn8?feature=share

We restored this Mac Classic II on one of my streams about a month ago. @AlanGrassia purchased it, and I donated that to The Trevor Project. Please go check them out. They do incredible work. ( click bait to bring attention to a good cause) https://www.thetrevorproject.org

On Saturday's noon eastern stream, we're going to finish rebuilding this once disgusting Mac Plus and see if we get its CPU running at 16MHz. And I'll announce its giveaway as a thank you for hitting 1024 subscribers. https://youtube.com/live/TavSDGdhpqs?feature=share

I'm going to do a stream this afternoon (3:30 eastern) to talk about the SE/30 reloaded board, rebuild a Mac Plus, and check out a 512k that I recently picked up. https://youtube.com/live/FwxvPEPT0Xw?feature=share

On Saturday's noon eastern stream, we'll be working on a Mac SE/30 reloaded board that came to me messed up... and I messed it up worse. https://youtube.com/live/dziZbLmWOAQ?feature=share

BigBadBiologist,

The SE/30 from yesterday’s stream is sort of working. After fixing the broken Sony chip, resolving a little solder blob short on one of the VIA chips, and replacing all of the precision sockets with dual wipe, it will intermittently boot. When booted, it’s great. Passes all snooper tests except FPU (probably soldering issue). But most of the time it just goes to simasimac. It seems like maybe the ROM socket is bad.

The SE/30 reloaded board from last weekend’s stream seems to be happy now. I did a little prying on the ROM SIMM socket pins to improve contact with the ROM SIMM and that seems to have resolved the intermittent boot issue.

I’m going to do the old “Guess how many leaky caps are in the Erlenmeyer flask” competition at my table. The winner will receive a . (Not officially associated with or endorsed by BlueSCSI folks)

So I normally don’t publicize my old streams, but last Friday’s was awesome. The comments from everyone were hilarious, so go watch it with the chat replay on. I started cleaning up the board today 🧵

I need help from the community. I don’t know what this card is. I believe that it is a PDS variant of the SuperMac Video Spigot. In addition to confirming what it is, I need extensions and/or software for it. (Assy no 0007542-0001) Help!

BigBadBiologist,
@BigBadBiologist@bitbang.social avatar

@vga256 awesome find! Thank you so much!

BigBadBiologist,
@BigBadBiologist@bitbang.social avatar

@vga256 That whole FTP site has a lot of great stuff on it!

BigBadBiologist,
@BigBadBiologist@bitbang.social avatar

@vga256 so close! But the extensions aren’t extension-ing (I did try individually also). The LED on the card doesn’t light up, but I can detect clocks and voltage all over the card (except at the LED). There is some corrosion on the card that I didn’t notice before, so I’ll look for bad traces and try again once the card is cleaned up.

BBB: Shut up, it’s almost !

A nasty-looking Mac Classic II from the back.
