Gardening Robot Uses Sunlight To Incinerate Weeds (hackaday.com)

Removing weeds is a chore few gardeners enjoy, as it typically involves long sessions of kneeling in the dirt and digging around for anything you don’t remember planting. Herbicides also work, but spraying poison all over your garden comes with its own problems. Luckily, there’s now a third option: [NathanBuildsDIY] designed...

Doctor_olo,

My guy built a laser beam for weeds, based af

Doctor_olo,

It had a lot of promise, but it feels kinda empty at its current state

Doctor_olo,

I’m not really talking about eating them out of desperation but rather just as an additive in food, however I see where your coming from and it’s a pretty reasonable response.

Solar power is the fastest growing energy technology in history, and wind is not far behind (twitter.com)

I have been pro-nuclear for more than a decade, but it is clear that it has lost politically at this point. I used to say that we needed a 40 years nuclear transition so that the solar tech could catch up. We are almost there. We sadly relied on oil and coal instead to develop these tech but we finally are here and it will soon...

Doctor_olo,

We’re all going to make it, as long as we keep pushing for the future we want

Doctor_olo,

God I can only imagine that once that day comes a lot of us will rejoice

Doctor_olo,

I agree it’s all about where we apply the growing methods that makes a difference

Doctor_olo,

I agree agrivoltaic farming is much more easy to implement for farmers, and although droughts and such will be more common I think the main appeal is what you said freeing up space for nature to reclaim.

Doctor_olo,

Totally agree lots of potential to lighten the load for the average Joe or Jane when it comes to groceries

Doctor_olo,

Honestly for me I think if we could grow grain vertically this would’ve been something we all jumped on

Doctor_olo,

That is a very interesting perspective, thank you for making me think of things in a slightly different light. But yes I agree any type of advancement in farming from this point in human history and onwards should be attempting to achieve 2 things:

  • Dont poison the planet (we kind of need it)
  • Make food preferably with some variety
Doctor_olo,

Isn’t the entire point that it scales?

Doctor_olo,

But I needz mah cheeseborger

I completely agree though reducing livestock to feed would honestly fix a lot of issues

Doctor_olo,

Although I was more talking in the hydroponics sense, this also reminded me you can do something similar with soil. Also good luck with that I hope you get lots of herbs

Doctor_olo,

Sorry but I don’t quite understand, mind elaborating a bit more?

Doctor_olo,

THEY EXIST FOR MUSHROOMS??? Please do send a link of the one you buy I am extremely curious to see it

Doctor_olo,

I’m hoping to see more successful large scale operations perhaps with some aspects of aquaculture/aquaponics integrated

Doctor_olo,

This is incredibly insightful as someone who want to get into the business, I agree that as always the governments are like 2 years behind new production methods and I wish that wasn’t the case.

Doctor_olo,

Come on give them some credit in the Balkans were around 50 that’s good enough if you ask me.

Doctor_olo,

Honestly I believe the more time goes by the more people start to hate the way our cities are rn

Doctor_olo,

I really think marine aquaculture needs a breakthrough like aquaponics
