It's crazy how well a 99 year old silent comedy movie could depict loneliness. (example scenes in description) (lemmy.world)

When should you in fact: Ask to speak to a manager?
"Lignite, in all its glory." It's the little things like this that make the Dwarf Fortress Wiki an absolute gem. ^^ (lemmy.world)
[Request] Bleak/desolate/dreary looking movies. Basically where you seldom see the sun shine. (lemmy.world)

[serious] If Project 2025 becomes a reality. Would you fight in a civil war?
When or where does "Fake it 'till you make it." apply?

Alright let's settle this once and for all: Emojis in a sentence are placed before a period 🤔? Or should they be placed after?🤔
Isn't it a little ironic to have a "Be productive" rule in a men's rights community? **Edit: I said what I said.**

I've got a raving lunatic on my hands. How do I order my dwarves to lock him up? (lemmy.world)
As the title states. I don’t want him to get into the fortress so I have to painstakingly lock the doors to keep him from entering. I don’t care if he’s locked up in the fortress I just don’t him around my dwarves.
I made a Dwarf Fortress™ comic-strip (Amateur here). Based on one of my first play-throughs of the game. I hope you guys enjoy ^^. (imgur.com)

This game is turning me into a mineral fanatic. (lemmy.world)
I mean check this shit out. This is prase!...
My plump helmet spawn (seeds) keep running out. Is this normal?
Title really says it all. I am a new player. Every time I try starting a fortress and I get to an underlying cave....
What song, when you listened to it for the first time, made you go: "This will be stuck in my head for the rest of the week."
For me it was this one: I Fought the Law
Which movies have aged like fine wine? (either in their message or cinematography)
I recently saw ‘Don’t Look Now’ (1973). Good picture, a little slow perhaps by today’s standards but worthy of any movie enjoyer’s time! So this movie was shot in Venice. Venice itself being an already beautiful spot to film even today. The way we get to look in a time capsule of Venice in the 70s makes the movie that...
It's actually cooler than you think! (lemmy.world)
"Men are bad at picking up on women's hints." What are your actual thoughts on this sentiment?
Either through memes or comments I keep seeing this sentiment pop-up from time to time. And I’m wondering what your (yes, you) consensus is on it....
How does genocide happen?
I can get behind murder. I feel like this, to some extend, is a genuine part of human behaviour. Even the horrific aftermath of such. But genocide truly feels inhuman to me. So I can never fundamentally understand how in history, civilizations went from point A to point B to Point Genocide. Any thoughts on this?
What is your favourite depressing quote (from a movie or actor)?
I’ll start us off with Cousin Ellis from No Country For Old Men:...
This was surprisingly good. (lemmy.world)
It’s a movie about friendship in the most cynical sense of the word. Simply brilliant.
Why is it so hard to create atoms from other atoms?
So helium is a limited resource. Okay gotcha. So why not take two hydrogen atoms. Take their protons and neutrons. And just fucking start squeezing them together until you get helium?...
