July election confirmed as date clashes with Euros and school holidays (news.stv.tv)

In yet another who cares about Scotland action from the Tories: when the big getaway starts we’re holding an election. Meaning polling staff will be harder to round up, votes will be down, and even counts will be short handed. Postal vote applications to be through the roof....

Olap,

Staycation with a bottle ae wreck the hoose joose, a dominoes, an a vhs ae Starship Troopers (nae player), fit else dae ya need?

Olap,

Reform on zero seats calling it now

Olap,

Think I left one of those in the porcelain telephone

Olap,

Almost like relying on wireless connections is a recipe for disaster for longevity of any tech. We can’t build anything any more to last more than a decade

Olap,

Skye and the cuilleans the usual recommendation for a few days. Speyside way or the great glen way another option. Knoydart another fantastic walk. And round the cairngorm plateau another option, loads of side treks there

What time of year you thinking?

Olap,

Excellent, well a couple of those are fairly remote, so I hope you’ve had some practice/experience. Usual advice in Scotland: 4 seasons in 1 day. Ultralight gear your friend. Water in July sometimes not the greatest access either. Leave a route plan, don’t rely on phones, and be responsible when about. Best of luck!

The majority of people in Scotland said they had no religion in the 2022 census (www.scotlandscensus.gov.uk)

Taken a subtitle as the title, as it’s better. The National pointing out that British and Scottish has gone significantly backwards, and entrenchment continues. And the minority ethnic group percentages have risen too. 'Mon in tae Scotland!

Olap,

The only three laws safe varient then is not to start. Checkmate OpenAI

Olap,

I’d love to see wooden spoon playoffs, for the world cup too. Give those 5th position pools some more game time! But nobody wants the loser stays on, so realistically it has to be a tier 2 shield competition for the world cup. In the leagues, the URC has a top 6 I think, so top 2 get byes, next 4 play off, and so on. And top 8 is needed for Champions Cup positions. But after that, nothing left to play for either. The relegation top fight of the premiership has been scrapped too. Just the Top14 with it left, so they are the odd ones out really. It would be good to have some sort of seeding system in place, but that needs a cup format and play-offs. Perhaps we should have all teams qualify for play offs, and position determines who you play, I like the top 2 get a bye also, means winning the league gets you stuff still also

Olap,

Off tae see Embra vs Munster at minifield the nicht. Nae ither plans, score. Sair ankle though, so a swim ower a walk ah reckun Sunday.

Olap,

Olap,

Good luck tiling whilst gettin pumped

Olap,

Wow, 150 in 25yard pool is over 2 miles. I like the sauna part most, but aim for 44 or 1km total

Olap,

We can, and must, do both. It isn’t an either/or decision here, let’s not frame it as that. That’s right winger thinking. A mix of production the only way to ensure grid stability beyond. If we want to retire coal, stop building insane biomass, reduce gas usage, increase hydrogen production. Then we need nuclear. Storage isn’t projecting to be anywhere close to enough, renewables in the UK are facing a tough challenge offshore currently - leasees are literally handing licenses back, onshore nimbyism is rife, solar installations aren’t ramping up, our housing stock isn’t being insulated at any measureable rate. We need to not only do stuff now and today, we also need that 20 year plan.

Politicians get lots of flack for short term politikalism, but energy security is one of the most important things governments around the world are involved in. Cheaper power is the foundation of our economy, and society. For any government to rule out green, dependable energy sources is akin to tying their feet together, sure you can still jump around - but wouldn’t some room to manuever be nice?

Olap,

I love how he said he didn’t want to big up his brother. Then did exactly that. Off to Minifield this Friday, hoping to show Munster a hard time

Olap,

The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it

Olap,

A monster of a player, he’ll be missed for sure. I think the Lions tour was when his peak was, and what an effort

Olap,

Am I taking crazy pills? Discord and Slack suck just as much imo. They are all a shitty web app repackaged for the desktop. And they are all fine, barely anything to chose betweem them. Teams is probably the best as the calendar integration with outlook and hosting ad-hoc drop in meetings in a room is good, no really, the virtual office is fantastic for pairing and team work.

IM peaked with IRC though, the simplicity was excellent, Matrix the closest thing to it imo. I do wish more stuff integrated with it to offer the same business experience as teams
