I second this opinion. It looks like the early stages of nutrient burn. It could be as simple as not mixing the nutrient solution enough so the bottom of the barrel is hotter than the top. My first suggestion to every grower is always less is more. I like to use super soil up until flower for that reason specifically, and then just use supplemental nutrients twice weekly until flush. Unless you are growing commercial crops on giant plants or are in a CO2 supplemented environment then it is unlikely the plants are getting large enough to require large amounts of supplementation.

See my above comment, but I will also say that Cherry Pie is notoriously finicky in my experience. I dumped that strain after two rounds because A: I didn’t like the genetic that much and B: it always got locked out while the rest of my plants were going gangbusters. Blue Dream can withstand a nuclear holocaust though. I swear you could piss in the pots and get 2 pounds off a plant.

Riccosuave,

It definitely won’t hurt the plants. Cannabis is exceedingly resilient, so 2-3 straight waterings to flush should clear out any excess salts if you’re using NPK nutrients. If you want some killer mixed medium nutrients I can’t recommend Remo’s nutrient line enough. It is super easy to use, you can just get away with using the basic line no problem for home grows, and it is EXTREMELY consistent. Worth every penny in my opinion.

One other thought I had. If you are using city water then make sure you are leaving the water out for 24 hours minimum before mixing nutrients or watering the plants. The additives to city water can cause all kinds of weird issues, especially chloramine. The concentration of chlorine/chloramine can vary at different times so it is best to just let the water sit for an extended period if you don’t have access to well water or an RO system.

Only if he is charged with either aiding or inciting an insurrection. It has to specifically be one of those charges, or actual treason based on all of the legal interpretations I have seen.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

I agree that it was incitement. I would also personally argue that Donald Trump is in fact a traitor. However, my personal opinion and what he can be tried and convicted for by a jury of his peers are two entirely different things.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Weird right? Somebody should probably do something to address both of those issues.

I hope you reported this company. Selling or distributing flower to consumers that has gone through the hydrocarbon extraction process is both disturbingly unethical and also super dangerous. I’ve seen some wild shit over the years, but if I knew someone in the recreational market was doing this I would report them immediately. Seriously, fuck those people.

Great, now criminally charge him.

You had me right up until putting the dog down. I get what you’re going for, but the dog was doing exactly what it was trained to do. That in of itself may be a problem, but putting the dog down only serves to add a level of moral and emotional ambiguity in most people’s minds. In reality 100% of the blame, culpability, and punishment should land squarely on the officer.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not sure I completely agree that dogs have no place in law enforcement. I can give a few examples:

  • Cadaver dogs and tracking hounds are an important part of criminal investigations at times.
  • Bomb sniffing dogs are definitely an important line of defense.
  • I think there is also an argument to be made that dogs are extremely useful in specific kinds of tactical situations which I would agree should be restricted to highly specialized and well trained police units.

Where we agree is that the prevelance of K9 units that are used to give false positives that lead to drug arrests, or the gratuitous use of K9 units in normal arrests is not acceptable or warranted. It is also shown to be abused time and time again. But again, I think there is more nuance to the issue which is difficult to account for during the justifiably negative emotional response people are having to this case, and the discussion needs to be had.

I hope people remember these companies and politicians who attempted to blockade Cannabis businesses when it is invariably made federally legal. They will more than likely never face the consequences of their stupidity while they turn a blind eye to armed robberies that are specifically caused by these policies yet get fat on the tax revenue regardless.

The idea that we need to plead fealty to these degenerates to get them to take common sense approaches to issues that the majority of the voter base has agreed on for a decade is ridiculous. No matter how anybody personally feels about Cannabis consumption it never has and never will go away. Prohibition doesn’t work, and attempting to legislate other peoples ethics is a losing gambit.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, but the problem is that the volume of cash makes retailers a massive target. People have been killed over this, and will continue to be put in danger until customers have access to the same payment resources that all other retail businesses take for granted. This is not a trivial issue at all. There are serious real world consequences to these decisions that paint the industry in a bad light when they are a DIRECT consequence of the inaction of the federal government. We are never going back to prohibition. There is simply too much tax revenue generated, and too much public sentiment on the side of both legalization as well as ending the failed drug war policies.

Honestly, as attached as I was to the RIF style after using it for a decade like OP, I have to say that I think the design of Connect is really damn good. Especially when you consider how early in the game it is right now for the Fediverse as a whole. The more modern design, features, and generally slick look to everything got me hooked immediately. Honestly, the only thing I don’t really like about Connect is the App logo on my phone 🙃

This is a much healthier mindset, and I completely support this. I don’t actually want to see a mass migration to Lemmy because it would just instantly replicate a lot of the same issues that Reddit had. Slower, organic, and well scaled growth is wholly preferable to a massive swarm of users. I also think the general quality of users on Lemmy is currently about 10,000% higher than on Reddit, and I would - selfishly - like to see it stay that way.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Generally I agree with you, but let me steelman a different argument. It feels to me like we are in the early stages of another digital renaissance like the one that happened during the rise of Reddit & Facebook. I remember that time well as I was just starting high school, and Reddit opened an entirely new world for me after leaving Digg. It felt like where all the cool kids hung out if you will. There was this wealth of information, discussion, political discourse, and it scratched the itch that ultimately formed a lot of who I am today.

It has always been the visionaries who are then backed by the early adopters that form internet culture. Lemmy is, again, where the cool kids (and technically inclined) are choosing to hang out. There is an exclusivity to it, and that feeling of breaking from the herd. That is an exciting and addicting feeling for content creators and users alike. This is all happening as major players like Meta & Twitter are warring with each other over users, and while Reddit allowed itself to succumb to the narcissistic ambitions of one moron (fuck u/spez) who never cared about the spirit of what used to make Reddit truly great.

I think a lot of us (me included) got complacent, and bogged down in the feeling that there would never be a time where the internet felt new, and alive again. It is a failure of imagination really, and I hope this can be one shot across the bow to the major power structures behind the previous generation of social media that blind corporatism rarely if ever can capture the magic or lightning in a bottle that has been the bedrock of culture in the information age. Only time will tell how this project will evolve and change or if it can become something truly great that stands the test of time. But I, for one, am sincerely hoping that it does…just as much for myself as for all of you!

Very good point. It will be generational maybe too. As younger people enter the Lemmy pool, they may not find it to be that unfriendly since it will be what they are used to.

The fact this is even a radical idea shows how far down the debate pervert rabbit hole this country has gone. People are willing to argue against even the most basic additions to the public trust that other countries who became democratic long after the United States had solved decades ago.

It’s funny you should say that because I just deactivated my Twitter account. I never used it, and now I never will use it. Lemmy > Everything.
