TangledHyphae,

Which continue to expand, and just expanded even more this last time under Biden unfortunately.

Your position is great, all these kids are being warped by slander and pejoratives (as contextual), and nobody seems to care about manipulating all these new kids being grown up into a world that’s burning down and their McDonald’s meal will cost $26.99 next year with no jobs existing. But they’re concerned more about gender and words and feelings than reality anymore.

TangledHyphae,

I was shocked as I went through the source struggling to find any modules that had C. Craziness.

TangledHyphae,

odysee.com – this one is also worth checking out, Louis Rossmann even posts there.

TangledHyphae,

There are shitty people on YouTube too, why hate on a platform just because shitty people use either one of them? Beats giving money to YouTube, we have to start somewhere to decentralize more.

TangledHyphae,

Sweet, do you have any links on how to set that up? My next goal is to set up my own lemmy.<mydomain> instance up so I can pull various things for my own aggregation. Last I tried, I had errors after the Rust compiling steps, need to try it agian.

TangledHyphae,

Would you rather a hostile foreign entity do it instead, who have vested interest in sewing destructive chaos as a goal, though? That’s the alternative.

TangledHyphae,

It’s weird seeing comments that outline the actual problem getting downvoted here more than the superfluous comments that do not address the real problem at all. Bizarroworld.

TangledHyphae,

I agree, wish this was the actual goal but it’s going to be hard to pry those rights out of their hands.

TangledHyphae,

What about Biden signing in the new spying bill recently that enhances wiretapping of US citizens?

TangledHyphae,

So that’s why I have these buying habits. I usually buy extra of things, because I know I’ll run out and need it at the last minute when I really need something. The medication only goes so far, doesn’t fully cure it.

Instagram Advertises Nonconsensual AI Nude Apps (www.404media.co)

Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI image generation apps, once again showing that some of the most harmful applications of AI tools are not hidden on the dark corners of the internet, but are actively promoted to users by social media companies unable or...

TangledHyphae,

I’m still on the google prompt bandwagon of typing this query:

stuff i am searching for before:2023… or ideally, even before COVID19, if you want more valuable, less tainted results. It’s only going to get worse from here, 2024 is the year of saturation with garbage data on the web (yes I know it was already bad before, but now AI is pumping this shit out at an industrial scale.)

TangledHyphae,

I don’t get it… if someone works and invests in a property, they pay a significant amount of money to have and maintain that property. If someone can only afford to rent for a short term period of time, what then? Is the next step that the person spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a house supposed to just hand it over without selling it to a tenant? What is the alternative?

TangledHyphae,

I especially like the “lever” analogy, most people tend to think in absolutes and dichotomies, instead of realizing that an equation can have many variables with many coefficients.

TangledHyphae,

I don’t really have to fix anything in Linux, I do a lot of advanced things though (I’m a software dev) where I will manually change executables’ paths, swap them out with symlinks, use custom newer GCC compilers, etc, but even with all of that I still rarely ever have to “fix” anything. I have been waiting, prepared, for when this Ubuntu install craps out so I can finally wipe it out and switch to Arch for this PC… but it still keeps going and going without a hiccup.

I’m not sure what people are referring to that they have to fix all the time, but no two people have the same experience overall obviously, and there are so many variations of a linux system. like take 10 different desktop environments or window managers or different pieces of software or hardware and every permutation is going to have either more problems, or less problems.

Ultimately I would recommend anybody just giving all of the distros and DE/WMs a try. A good try, give it a few weeks and see how each of them feel, you’re not going to know what you’ve been missing, or if anything ever has bugs or quirks at all period, until you do.

TangledHyphae, (edited )

Holy shit this is incredible. I have wanted a way to permanently hide shorts forever, thanks for sharing. Also it’s actually recommended by Mozilla which means it has active security audits on it, impressive.

TangledHyphae,

You sure they aren’t referencing the fact that they all can still do that right now in general? Nothing will change until we take the politicians outside of insider trading.

TangledHyphae,

Are there any lemmy servers that consist of more moderate and centrist or even moderate right-leaning people? I don’t like solely participating in the echo chambers, because if you don’t think like the liberal hivemind you get insulted repeatedly with no meaningful discussion, and the talking points are combative instead of philosophical or thought provoking. Surely there are less extremist communities on lemmy somewhere?

The problem is I want a home feed where left-wing political stances and memes aren’t crammed into every possible row, and lemmy users seem to spend significant amounts of brain power making anti-right wing memes and whatnot, so instead of having useful meaningful entertaining content it’s just political garbage and left-wing propaganda. Might have to just make my own instance and somehow filter out the useless political rhetoric noise I guess.

TangledHyphae,

Not participating so much as reading the hivemind room temp IQ drivel that usually comes with the territory is just a complete waste of time because there’s nothing interesting or valuable in any way. I’m still on the hunt for better circles as is tradition. Eventually I’m going to write my own javascript extension for firefox to help mitigate some of the overly politically biased posts and comments in the main feeds, which will likely have to work over time as I start building regular expression rules and whatnot and start doing weighted statistics. Might actually be a good use case to start using Python to start classification systems as I aggregate the datasets. Might even be an interesting case for machine learning. I think I might actually do that now that I think about it…

TangledHyphae,

I’m still curious as to how people think a ceasefire will help, when historically letting terrorists proliferate has the opposite effect and only spreads more islamic terrorism and even more deaths long term. Do people really want to keep this revolving door of teaching palestinian children to murder their neighbors?

TangledHyphae,

It was a legitimate question.

TangledHyphae,

Yes, I am aware, it was still an actual question.

TangledHyphae,

That’s very… peaceful of you to say. Do you sympathize with terrorists who have civilian hostages?

TangledHyphae,

Yes, that is why my opinions are that of my own.

TangledHyphae,

By Iran funding their Hezbollah proxies to continue the attacks (that just caused injury and serious injury to multiple people in Israel)? Seems like a continuation of the assault on civilian territory from an outside perspective.
