    The last thing that has been bothering me about Espanso is how sometimes it will output the letter v instead of whatever it’s programmed to paste. It happens more frequently on macOS, but I’ve seen at least one report of that happening on Linux too.

    I have some hypotheses as to why that happens, but I need to run some tests and watch the logs. I have zero experience with Rust, but maybe a pull request will come out of it? We’ll see.

    I’m retiring the idea of having different website sections for my posts (i.e. /today-i-learned). I consolidated them all into a single /posts section.

    I’m not sure if I should keep separate RSS feeds for each category—maybe using a Hugo taxonomy would make that easier to maintain.

    I’m also considering creating a taxonomy to handle topics.

    My spouse and I finally finished building his split keyboard. ⌨️✨

    It was a really frustrating process, but we’ve learned a whole lot about soldering with this project.

    It took us so long to build it that, in the meantime, the manufacturer has launched an updated version of the board that’s officially compatible with QMK and uses USB-C instead of mini USB. I wish we’d waited so we could get that one instead, but hindsight is 20/20.

    Meu esposo tem a lembrança da falta de alguma coisa no fim dos anos 90 ou no começo dos anos 2000 que fez com que o pão francês ficasse em falta e/ou tivesse a sua qualidade reduzida. Ele disse que o pão que se tinha, bem, ele tinha um gosto azedo na época. Alguém se lembra de algo assim?

    O máximo que eu encontrei foram notícias sobre o aumento do preço da farinha de trigo e um boicote goianiense aos pães franceses por causa do aumento do preço (mas mais tarde do que mozi se lembra).

    Others can talk about it in more detail, but I find it interesting when I see someone say they’d feel excluded seeing posts in languages other than English because honestly, exclusion is the default state for a lot non-English speaking countries, cultures, populations.

    And I haven’t even mentioned more violent mechanisms of oppression, imperialism, and colonialism that aim to erase and extinct other languages and cultures.

    I was surprised to learn that some American universities require you to live on campus for the first couple semesters. What’s up with that? That’s such a foreign (pun intended) concept to me.

    Since I didn't hear any news about recordings, I decided to publish the script I wrote for my systems thinking + FOSS talk as a blog post (I was planning to do so anyway as a way to guarantee that people who couldn't listen to the recordings for any reason would have access to the contents of the talk).

    I'm at that point post-travel that I'm still finding myself taking unexpected naps as soon as my body touches a sofa or a bed or anything that feels slightly comfortable.

    We're considering always having 1-2 buffer days in São Paulo before and after international travel just so we can allow our bodies to have a good night of sleep before going home. 30% of our stress comes from the fact most airlines will book us flights with super tight connection times between home and the nearest international airport with better flight offerings.

    Additionally, traveling Economy has gotten significantly worse than half a decade ago. Our bodies took a significant hit in this trip to the US—to the point I was extremely disappointed in my performance as a speaker and as a social being within a community due to how unwell I was feeling the whole time. We were on the verge of needing medical attention, which is a really tense situation even with the best travel insurance coverage we could find.

    Apparently disabled people who requested assistance at the airport cannot use online check in services per an American Airlines policy? That has to be done in person at the airport!

    I find it so counterintuitive that, even if I request assistance services beforehand, I have to hunt down someone to help me at the airport. The whole pre-boarding thing is incredibly messy, too.

    Stellar assistance from LATAM employees and both CGH and GRU workers. Every single person we met made sure we had all the help we needed.

    CGH even has a separate waiting area for folks who requested assisted boarding.

    Final thoughts:
    • I don’t want to travel with American Airlines or GOL Airlines again. I feel like they both failed me spectacularly when it comes to accommodations and assistance. I was disappointed that AA failed so badly after such a wonderful costumer service pre-trip.
    • No complaints about the airport employees—just a lot of compliments.
    • LATAM’s assistance service was awesome!
