I saw a Cybertruck in person for the first time. Believe me when I say that it is uglier in person.

I somehow expected it would be less bad, and I was wrong. It is a real eyesore. Plus I’m pretty sure it already had water stains on it.

Anybody have a favorite pen that writes well in Field Notes notebooks?

I just got a set and want something more casual than fountain pens.

@matthewcassinelli fountain pens don’t work with Field Notes paper anyway. A space pen is what I use with them, and it works great. I have the bullet one clipped to the inside of my pocket and a Field Notes in my back pocket.

@so @sam @matthewcassinelli maybe you’re using a lot drier inks than I am, but my impression was that ballpoints are really what that paper was made for. I never had much luck with anything else.

If you want to use a fountain pen, any cheap Japanese notebook tends to work well, but for on the go ballpoint + Field Notes is a good combo.

@sam @so @matthewcassinelli Is that an extra fine? What ink is it? If it’s a super dry ink, I’m sure it’d work on just about anything :) I tend to not use the fine tips or dry inks because I want my fountain pens to feel smooth.

Occasionally the contrarian DHH gets it right. He finally came to the logical conclusion of just using Linux as a development environment. A bit annoyed he didn't call out macOS for all of the ridiculous hoops you have to jump through to setup a dev env (XCode, iTerm2, homebrew, case insensitive file-systems, etc), where as every Linux distro provides everything via the built-in package manager.

@willhbr @postmodern I could probably handle it for just web dev (I also do iOS and Mac), but it would be a trade off. For everything, there’s categories of things I would not be able to do on Linux or at least not without completing changing how I do them.

@wood @postmodern doing music and recording on Windows would work, even if I wasn’t happy about it and had to use some different tools, but on Linux I don’t see how it would even be possible without completely changing how I do it in service of using Linux, and even then I’d be giving a lot up.
