coys25,

Thanks for this! This is a blast from the past.

I remember finding this CD (and a few others from the collection) amongst my dad’s music collection, right as MP3s were becoming a thing in the mid 90s.

I ripped them and they made their way onto my computer / Winamp playlists, followed me to college, and were on every generation of iPod that I used. With the switch to streaming services, I tried to bring along as much of my collection as possible, but some things just got lost.

The whole collection is incredibly curated for a very precise late-night vibe. The Billy Holliday one is great too - remember that one.

Nice! I do often miss the days of my 120 GB iPod classic with an album collection that I had carefully curated over the course of decades. There is a lot that is convenient about the streaming era, for sure, but I feel like that set of hundreds of albums that I listened to over and over again was a really unique and personal set of music, and having a bunch of favorites on Spotify just isn’t the same…

Did anyone try to return to reddit and notice it just didn't do it for you anymore?

So I’ve switched to lemmy since the reddit meltdown started, experienced quite some withdrawal symptoms, occasionally turned back to reddit, more often logged out than logged in. Now I am merely using Lemmy occasionally and by far not as often as I used reddit before. No more doom scrolling....

coys25,

There is !reddead, but it’s pretty quiet. You could try posting there to get some of that content going. It’s a bit of a vicious cycle, though - the lack of content drives people away, leading to less content.

I will say that even in smaller communities I find that people are quite helpful here with questions, which is great.

It does seem like the post reddit boom of interaction and growth has waned, thought, and many of the communities that were starting to grow are now much quieter than they were a few weeks ago. I think that the lemmy.world downtime for so long really drove people away, which is a shame.

With you on NAIF - the N was the last thing that I filled in. I had wAIF instead and it just wasn’t clicking. (Not knowing ILENE Chaiken made the cross harder).

Black out shades for the nursery if you don’t have them… We live at a pretty northern latitude and in the summer the kid would never sleep! There are some cheap ones that suction cup to the windows, which are great for travel too and won’t break the bank.

We bought one color changing smart lightbulb for the nursery lamp and it was a great idea. You can turn it red and still be able to see when you come in at night, like a darkroom, while still being able to navigate the room and not trip over stuff.

Echoing the white noise machine. A cheap smart speaker (Google mini) can also be useful - you can adjust the volume from outside the room; there are ton of white noise podcasts, and if your kid likes music instead, you can start with that and switch to white noise.

coys25,

How are you watching tonight? Me: on the couch, windows closed, air purifiers cranking… Had planned to go but can’t justify breathing this in for 2-3 hours, especially on a Sunday night with work tomorrow (already an annoying kickoff time).

1-0 Atlanta. Header on a corner kick, Frei gets a finger but just too powerful

coys25,

In more ways than one…

coys25,

Hmm, yeah - thanks! The first option is what I’d considered, but I wanted to make sure that we were able to see the actual net amount we are paying for our own phones, like you mentioned.

The second idea seems like maybe an ok way to go. Some of the family likes to pay a few months at once (ahead of time) so we would likely always have a buffer. I don’t like the risk of being on the hook without budgeted money if someone falls behind, though…

I did reach out to YNAB support. I guess I just don’t understand why- as you said- the needed for spending doesn’t take the inflows in that category into account. If I wait till the end of the month, I guess that will roll over?

coys25,

Hmm interesting - might give this a try. I also will eventually need to figure out how to do this for work trips, medical stuff getting reimbursed out of an HSA, etc, so I will probably need to set a relatively high amount in this category. I guess that that makes sense, though, since I’m in essence extending a line of credit to all of these people.

So, in your system, do you feel like you get a good view of your spending in these categories? Or is everything just sucked up into the pluses and minuses of the reimbursement category (which may not be a big deal)?

coys25,

Makes sense - thanks!

Signed up as soon as they announced! New site over the weekend is www.pnwsoccermedia.com, then should be back at the old URL on Monday!

Yeah, even though slow motion makes it look worse, I was shocked that it wasn’t given in real time. But the commentary team was convinced that it was just a natural body position. I continue to have no idea what constitutes a handball in the box.

(Didn’t see this comment yet - so I added it. Hope that’s ok!)

coys25,

1:17 for me. Found it pretty long and tricky for a mini!

Other news from the article:

Cleveland will miss Sunday’s game while on bereavement leave after the tragic death of his father, who apparently died in a car accident. The team will wear black armbands in a show of solidarity.

Also returning to the gameday roster is Xavier Arreaga. The centerback last appeared for the Sounders on May 31 and has not been available since suffering a muscle injury while on international duty with Ecuador during the June international window

coys25,

Yep! Fixed it, thanks.

If you don’t like it, don’t pay for it and use something else?
