Good morning. Millie would like you to all know that throwing the ball is very good for your health and will probably make you live longer. So you should throw the ball; just to be safe.

What if we just wrote software, and didn't consider it shippable until we wrote the documentation to go with it?

Millie getting the zoomies around the backyard because she couldn't handle watching me digging while she's not allowed to dig was just too much.

My partner just bought a new Volvo XC90, and even the digital owner's manual in the dash is out of date vs what the car actually displays, which is nice.

Maybe this whole "ship cars without the software being finished" thing was a load of crap the whole time

@VE2UWY Working with Tesla as a customer, I absolutely believe it.

Mille would recommend against working an on-call shift on Sundays. Much better to lay on the couch and be a potato.

After more than six months of the ticket being open, it looks like the Canonical site infra team finally fixed whatever was broken that was preventing users from being redirected to local download mirrors for the Ubuntu ISOs.

@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

@winterschon no clue. They never provided any details in the ticket

Just shipped out another . This one is headed to New Jersey as a Dell R220 with a 2x10G port channel and a 4TB SATA SSD. Those bits are going to go brrrrr

Today is Millie's "gotcha" day. It's been a year of this goofball.

@terri We dropped her to 3 cups/day right at 12 months old, and I've noticed the less intensity on her rope toys, which have been doing most of the heavy lifting so far...

I'm continuing to suspect that the CPUC is deliberately making California Net Energy Metering as convoluted as possible to make sure consumers don't stand a chance.

@sulrich a big plot of land off the grid in the mountains is sounding pretty good right now

So I've got this empty concrete pad on the side of my house.

It used to have a rotted out 12x24' shed on it, but I demolished that last fall and figured I could do something better... 🧵

@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

One shed, some assembly required.

I guess I'm freaking committed now.

Large pile of wood strapped together sitting on front lawn

@sysadmind they do! Them and the Perkins Brothers.

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

@baloo I was thinking about it. Wouldn't that be surprising?

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

My dad volunteered to come down and help me restack all of the lumber inside of the fence and all in its own piles so I can get to all of it.

Only took the two of us about 2 hours to shuttle everything back there.

@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

The inaugural wall frame. Now just fill with studs, repeat five more times, attach together, add roof, and bongo bango, you've got yourself a shed.

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

@baloo exactly

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

The inaugural mistake! I meant to leave that stud out so I'd have room to nail the header in.

So I guess we've moved to the "improvising" stage of this project.

Day two of framing my new shed. I woke up this morning and can still move, but I'm beginning to suspect that I don't want to quit my job and start framing houses for a living.

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

@jrward I'm taking "unlimited PTO" to do it

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

One wall panel done, second layout done. Now we just need to cut some studs and do it again.

kwf,
@kwf@social.afront.org avatar

The second panel went together much faster.

The site supervisor is sleeping in my office.

One of my neighbors came by to help me with the big lift. So we've got the tallest wall up in the air; everything from here on is lighter.

Alright. I found my limit. It is too hot and going back outside after noon was stupid. 🥵
