@lown Hey! I’m looking into self-hosting gathio for a community, and while I think self-destructing events is a good feature, is there a way for a community to turn that off and show a list of their upcoming and past events?

Can you restrict who can post events?

When an event self-destructs, what happens to all of its posts on the Fediverse? Do they go away?

@ramsey well, as it happened I was recovering from being ill yesterday and did... all this. If you update your Gathio instance and set the three new config options:

  • delete_after_days = 0
  • show_public_event_list = true
  • creator_email_addresses = ["you@email.com"]

You should have exactly what you need!

Also, I had another look and when an event self-destructs, we do post Delete objects to ActivityPub, so if that isn't working, it's a bug.
