I'm a nerd who plays #Arknights and watches #anime. I'm a big fan of #StarTrek even though they canceled Prodigy. Looking for a job in data science, software engineering, or related fields. Recently started thinking of myself as a #furry.

Does the W3C hate SVG because it's one of the most successful examples of XML and they're trying to move away from that?

Capitalism means I must do a job instead of spending all day researching neomoji. That's a damn shame.

It's not spyware, it's just a free non-consensual backup that you don't get to own or see or opt out of, uploaded to the company servers. Very normal stuff.

@laptopkitten

You can opt-out, for now at least. It should be opt-in (or not exist at all) but you can go into settings and turn it off. And, unlike ads, you don't even have to futz with the registry to do it.

EXIF data includes a bunch of fields that would be silly for a computer generated image. I wonder what the temperature and humidity are for :neopossum_this_is_fine:.

The way to use masks in pillow (python image library) is take image1 and only replace it with stuff from image2 where the mask isn't transparent. It's technically easier to load an image for that image2 than it is to use a solid color.

Hmmmm.

In my quest to find the bot from :neopossum_hug_bot: I looked for any emoji containing robo or bot. Here are some others I found.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

Not gonna lie, it's a tad frustrating that I haven't found a closer match to the bot that I'm looking for. I still suspect that it's supposed to be the bot from the Mutant Standard set but modified for some reason I'm not privy to. I'll keep looking though because it really is a great design.

Woohoo, a lead on the bot from :neopossum_hug_bot:. Surely there can't be many people named Luna on the Fediverse.

I ran across the first server to use non-English emoji names (I think it's Russian based on the .ru). Can anyone provide translations for

Cat, fox, possum, dragon, bread, robot, tiger, meow, devil, halo, blob, sign, flag, pride, kiss, floof, woozy, uwu, Yassie, and skibidi

in

French, German, Polish, Russian, Dutch, Czech, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, or any other language you know

It probably won't yield any new but I can't really check without help from people who know other languages.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@Erpel, @mym, @puniko, or @guigui maybe?

Thank you for your assistance.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@theartlav

It looks like my suspicion that I was seeing Russian was well founded. I've definitely seen Кот and Робот in emoji names. Thank you for your assistance!

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@blobcat

Thank you for your assistance. I've at least seen posts where miał was used, even if I haven't come across any emoji that do (to my knowledge).

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@sorrowl

Thank you for your assistance. I don't think I've seen any Finnish neomoji but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

@rgbunny

Thank you for your assistance with Japanese.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@rgbunny

I'm mostly thinking in terms of

:neofox_uwu: and :neofox_owo: for uwu and owo. But those are borrowed from Japanese in the first place.

:neocat_sign_yip: is the kind of sign that I'm talking about.

:drgn_flag_polyam: is a sample of the flag. :neopossum_flag_polyam: is usually called flag_polyamorous but I think pride_polyamorous probably makes more sense.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@blobcat

Actually, no, I'm being dumb. I have seen a polish neomoji.

:neofox_poland: is the only flag I've seen used on neomoji that isn't about sex, gender, disability, neurodivergence, or Yassie.

@Erpel once the neomojimixer api exists this will be one of the things i want to with it

RE: https://shonk.social/notes/9te5d69oxz3b01eu

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@Erpel @flora @untsuki

I could provide an /identicon endpoint if it works how I think it does. It would take in an IP address as data, feed it into a hash, then generate a consistent neomoji every time the same address is passed. Is that basically how it works?

I think the biggest issue is that new parts are added so frequently that I don't think it would be particularly durable. How long should an identicon last?

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@flora @Erpel @untsuki

Just to make sure I understand the workflow here:

  1. User types "neopossum" into a shad-256 generator on their end to produce, "e7ba4b3df8703e7521c92a82f33941bd54142a67b3f192eb42f2129404cc5cd6"

  2. user sends that hash to /identicon endpoint

  3. The server runs something like this to select parts based on that hash

body_index = hash[0:64] % count(bodies)
eyes_index = hash[64:128:4] % count(eyes)
mouth_index = hash[128:0:-1] % count(mouths)
arms_index = hash[1:255:2] % count(arms)
  1. It looks up those part ids in some tables to select these parts
body[body_index] = neopossum_ambiamorous
eyes[eyes_index] = woozy
mouth[mouth_index] = blep
arms[arm_index] = rainbow_infinity
  1. The server sends back the attached image.

Is that correct?

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@flora @Erpel @untsuki

The primary endpoint of the API is going to be /create which will accept a json like that. So I'll just focus my attention on that for now.

@flora@mk.absturztau.be avatar

where does the robot in :neocat_hug_bot: come from?

o76923, (edited )
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@flora @Erpel @volpeon @puniko

So far, I've been able to find that the bot initially came from the Mutant Standard set of open source emoji.

A bundle of variants called robomoji began around 3 years ago. That bundle was created by @luna combining creations from 7 different authors (credited in the linked git).

Most of them can be found with the name :ms_robot_*:. 11 of the indexed servers have at least the basics from the set.

The big thing that I can't figure out is why that bot doesn't actually look much like the one in all the hugs. They have different curvature and this one is clearly two-toned unlike the hugs.

It's me before I gave up on dating sites.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

The funny/sad part is the poly pride was a bigger red flag to people on there than anything else. Even compared to not having a real job, flunking out of college, struggling with depression, or living in my parents' basement.

I'm not currently in a relationship with anybody. I'm still poly. No, I'm not solo poly, I just haven't found the right kitchen table or spreadsheet yet.

o76923, to random
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@Erpel,

is there a place we can submit ideas/requests/samples for parts to add to the ? I'm pretty sure your git would be flooded if you used that.

o76923,
@o76923@kitty.social avatar

@Erpel

Since my search for that robot looked for any emoji containing "bot" in the name, I stumbled across a pretty good looking spray bottle on tilde.zone. That's the home instance of some neofoxes so maybe they'd be willing to share?
