Spontaneous gig tomorrow… strings are "relatively" fresh but I'm thinking about changing them anyway.

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@mpts All strings lose harmonic content after a couple of hours. Depending on your playing style you need to change them accordingly. I depend A LOT on that harmonic content for my tone.

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@mpts Some people never change strings but that's a very specific kind of tone as well. Doesn't really work for metal that well. Especially if you are playing a bit more technical :D

@mpts Bass can be quite a challenging instrument. It's not just "guitar for stupid people" :D

I am getting to a point where I see that I progress in my practice, but progress is so slow. Not sure if I am impatient or simply reaching a limit in how much I can improve.

Things that don’t help (maybe): practicing too many techniques at once, playing songs that I don’t really like, and drilling songs again and again for an exam that I hope to take soon.

I guess this is the disadvantage of going to a music school and following their program.

@mewbassprr Every once in a while you are bound to hit a road block. I'm currently hitting one myself. Persistence will get you through this and you will come out the other side felling accomplished :)

@mewbassprr Trust the process. 👍

More spring cleaning 🧹 Replaced the trusty vim-commentary with Comment.nvim. It's context aware and can use to determine the correct commentstring for injected languages. 👍 https://github.com/numToStr/Comment.nvim

I've been working A LOT with #vuejs lately, so this is really neat.

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@cjk I've seen it being used in various distributions. Skimming the documentation yielded everything I needed. Looked very mature. Ultimately it doesn't really matter to me. 🤷‍♂️

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@cjk I might change my opinion once I've ran into limitations or if one outruns the other. At this point it would just be option paralysis 😅

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@petrisch I can't get the commentary function to cover all of it right now but I'm sure it'll get there. Commenting with injected languages can still be a bit tricky.

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@petrisch Not as I would like, I'm currently using Comment.nvim more or like as a band aid until I get it to work the way I want it.

Just switched to using on for highlighting. Gamechanger 🤯

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@cjk Yeah, been on my list as well. Just didn't feel the need to integrate that into my workflow just yet. But at this point the highlighting has become so atrocious that I needed to remedy it 😅

Nice! Logic 11 can do Stem Splitting now. This way I can remove the for tracks I'm doing a play along to. It's not perfect but already so much better than not having it. Wondering how well this is going to help me to transcribe stuff 🤔 https://youtu.be/exLkvKjs3GQ?si=_0ZVai7JlSoCACtE&t=2077

There are some subscription based services that have been doing this for a while now. Having this in my DAW without having to pay an additional service is really cool.

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@thunfisch Absolutely. It's great to have that out of the box. I've tried it with a Vipassi track that features a 6 string fretless bass solo. It got confused by some of the slides which admittedly don't sound very much like a bass 😅

raichoo,
@raichoo@chaos.social avatar

@kbob Ah, never heard of StemRoller, but at this point I probably don't have a need for it anyway 😸
