Tired of explaining to people that if "soy culture is a major cause of deforestation" it does not mean that vegans are destroying the planet since a large part (like, 90%) of said soy is grown to feed livestock, and we would need far less surface to cultivate soy for direct consumption.
In fact you're causing more soy culture and thus deforestation by eating meat than you would be eating soy.

I’ve been vegetarian for 30+ years, am mostly vegan, and I rarely eat soy. With all the soy derivatives in packaged foods, there must be a number of meat-eaters who consume more soy than I do

Oh. Ok. That's because Mastodon is not a billion-dollar company. Or a company for that matter. But the article fails to see this for some reason.
What's incredible is, when you know what mastodon -- and the fediverse in general -- is, the article is kindda laughable, because it tries to treat mastodon as a whole like a Silicon Valley venture.
So well, yeah, the reason Mastodon will not replace Twitter (X) is : it is not the same thing at all, and shares none of the values the latter holds dear. So maybe you should just stop comparing, it's annoying.

I'm currently on a real estate adventure. The adventure is : prepare to buy a house (a.k.a prepare to contract a loan for 25 years in an economy that's trying to kill us) and wake up at 4:30 everyday without a chance to go back to sleep, wondering if it's a good idea, if it's not gonna be too hot in the room upstairs at summertime, if the electrician is not gonna be too expensive, if anything would happen between my bf and I in the next 25 years, if I'm gonna be able to afford a car once I have my license, if the bank that will lend us the money and force us to use their services will have google pay, if we'll be able to do it with a bank that does not support Qatari oil projects (that's rare), how big of an impact sleep deprivation is gonna have on my mental health, ...
My advice : get of that train before Google succeeds in making half of the web implement their "only allow chrome and google-approved browsers on my website" (Web Environment integrity) so they can inject ads before any site you visit just because you don't have a choice anymore 😤
