Watching Stanley Tucci's 'Searching For Italy' series and I can only think about how much I wish we got the crossover of him and Anthony Bourdain.

28 hours into the backup of our media between our Plex server and my new desktop, and we've done nearly 800 gigs. Still another TB to go.

"Why isn't new year's on the winter solstice?" - Romans sucked at calendars and we haven't abandoned it yet.

Here's a post on github which dives into just how bad they were at it

Since this is getting some traction, want to call out it as being written by @noelle

I have a proposal for . Currently image tags are:

I propose the following be adapted, to allow for alignment embedded in the tag:

!<[image caption](image url) -- Align left
!>[image caption](image url) -- Align right

If the use of < and > is problematic, then it could be handled like table headers

The more I learn about it, the more I'm coming to resent the Industrial Revolution.

Struck by a moment of awe and thankfulness for technology.

Sitting here in my recliner, with a computer in my lap, visiting the sites of various university presses to find new books that I want to read about various obscure topics.

I am repeating my request for a term to describe the confluence of confirmation bias and schadenfreude.

That is, I irrationally dislike Foo, news comes out that Foo is bad in some way, then I feel smugly justified in my irrational dislike as though I knew all along.

(See Substack.)

Surely someone has already coined a term for this. @grammargirl, have you any thoughts?

@mkb @grammargirl I humbly suggest 'vendifreude'

Backing up media files over my local network. 1 hour to move 27 gigs of... 2TB. Oh. Oh no.

I'm trying to figure out how to easily give myself a bookmarklet which snags the current URL, and then routes it's archive.is page to be saved on my wallabag. Can't seem to get it to work. Will try more later.

A Black Forest martini is exactly what the home bartender recommended. And who am I to argue? 🍸

@lfrum Having gone tête-à-tête, I would say you're quite capable of debating even when we violently agree. That said, this is not one worth arguing with.

Sharing in case this ends up hanging anyone else up. My Pi-hole was blocking my ability to interact with the Dominos website to order dinner. I had to disable it to use the website at all.

@teejmonster Yep. I ran through checking if any of my browser extensions were the issue, when it didn't work I switched browser. When it still didn't work, I realized I needed to pause the pihole blocking.

My Mother-in-Law is physically incapable of turning down a BOGO deal at the grocery store. And yet, she will stretch a single napkin for multiple days to avoid using more napkins. Both of these behaviors are driven by the inherent need to save money, and yet only one does so for her.
