Pretty proud! I grew up knowing I wanted to change the world, and I always thought I was gonna accomplish that through some kind of tech innovation.

This is so so so much better and far more wholesome than I ever saw coming.

I didn’t even set out to do it! It all just started as a blog post about how people kept describing GD wrong. @vantiss and I were sitting in the couch after watching a movie, complaining about the focus on physical dysphoria in trans spaces.

I was like: I should write about this.

I unironically love Battlefield Earth.

Its so bad, like really really bad, but Travolta is so ludicrously over the top, the drirection and editing is hilariously camp, and the story is so obviously ripped off from the Tripods trilogy while being even less realistic.

Foot size, hand size and height changes were probably the most astonishing thing.

The estrogenic list originally started from a reddit post that I found the day my egg cracked. It was a love letter to second puberty by a woman several years into transition. The entire thing read like a shopping list for what I wanted in my life.

My wife gave it to me! We wanted a J name with the same mouty feel as my deadname, while also shortenable to a single syllable (Joc, Joccy).

One day she asked what I thought about Jocelyn, and it just fit. I tried out a few spellings but finally felt that traditional would cause the least confusion. People still get it wrong, tho.

Really had to think about this, because there actually wasn’t much that did.

I think the most surprising thing was how much nicer people became once I was no longer read as male. Store employees, random strangers, even long term female friends.

I was expecting a lot more misogyny than I actually have gotten.

Perspective! Trans people have a view of society and culture that is completely unique. The entire scroll of gender and sexuality unrolls before us, like a system map in a ln open world video game. Yes, there’s still a fog of war, but where the majority of cis people have a linear path on rails, we have viewpoints and fast travel.
