user224,

This post rather got me questioning what skills or talents I have. None.

So I guess all of them are taking me way longer. When I want to learn something, I usually end up spiralling into thoughts that it’s too late for me and I should have known that much sooner, like others did.

user224,

Forget Y2K, let’s be afraid of Y2038.

user224,

In a few years you’ll think of how young you were when this 18 year old told you you could be their dad instead of grandpa like you’ll be told in those few years.

Time scares me. I fear it.

What song should I play for my bathroom neighbors?

The work bathroom is currently a warzone, on their phone speakers people like to play music, play games at full blast, and one guy likes to chill to ambient rainforest. What song can I play to passive aggressively make it known that I don’t want to listen to their tik tok feeds while I work out my demons?

user224,

(don’t actually unmute)

That still suggests the use of a camera.

user224,

None. All my playlists are fully unique, mostly because I am too lazy to actually make playlists.

There is a partial exception to it with one song: Louis Armstrong - When the saints go marching in
That is because I have 2 versions of it. One I ripped from YouTube in the past and like it more, and one I ripped from CD. The latter I keep in separate directory for album completion, just like culture mix of Big in Japan by Alphaville. I don’t like it, but I have rest of the album (also ripped from CD by myself).

I do have playlists, I almost never listen to full albums (nearly all songs I download individually), but I do that by categorizing new songs into the most fitting directory, and that’s it.

user224,

Currently I have DUKAS Premium line PL355. First nail clippers after which I don’t need to use nail file. And they were cheap (€1.60).

user224,

Newly released music.
I have access to internet, not just decades, but centuries of music. Why should I need to know the songs released this year? It’s just a drop in the ocean. I don’t need to have the newest music right away.

Similarly with new movies.

user224,

Umm… wouldn’t that… you know… invalidate it?

user224,

Maybe they can, but it may not be free.

Up until a few months ago my bank used to charge €5 for PIN change at the ATM (unpaid accounts only).

user224,

If you can’t read the lemmy docs and get it going on your own server, that’s on you.

Theoretically not needed. Elest offers managed Lemmy hosting. But it gets more expensive this way. Comparing their Hetzner offers to Hetzner VPS offers directly, about twice as expensive.

user224,

It may be due to their processing.
Better base64 -w 0 myfile.zip > myfile.zip.txt

If it works though ¯\(ツ)/¯

user224,

I currently have broken dependencies due to package from AUR which stops me from updating.
After last update everything is laggy after resuming laptop from sleep.
After last update, I cannot boot up with Linux 5.15. With nomodeset I was able to at least get TTY to upgrade kernel to 6.6.
Sometimes the function buttons die.
Stable now received upgrade to Plasma 6. It will likely kill my install.
I fear updates.
I fear updates.
I fear updates.
I fear updates.
I fear…

I use Manjaro, btw.

user224,

Nah, screw that.
Time to distribute stuff as a VM image.

user224,

Did you by any chance get this conclusion from Instagram comments?

user224,

Meanwhile my carrier doesn’t even support MMS.

user224,

Isn’t that usually what happens though?

5G is the new best thing, people jump on 5G, 5G gets overloaded decreasing its speeds while 4G gets unloaded increasing its speeds.

Same thing it was with 4G, which is why I kept using 3G until start of 2024 when it got shut down here.

user224,

Definitely wouldn’t want a dumbphone. Rather the opposite, like a super-smartphone, something like Raspberry Pi inside my pocket (PinePhone may be getting there).

This post got me to try installing Jellyfin server in Termux under proot, only to realize it’s fairly useless for random videos and then wipe it 5 minutes later, but anyway that’s the kind of things I do/want to do with my phone.
And hell, I’d definitely want a keyboard attachment like the PinePhone has.

user224,

I did also have problems with Bing today, so that’s probably the problem.

As others said, Downloads folder.

But, if you use Google files app, it’s possibly iffy as usual. Sometimes it won’t show files when you click on “Downloads” in main menu, but you can navigate to the folder and find the files there. Then rename the file to something else (keeping in mind GFiles is case-insensitive) and rename it back. Now it should finally show up.
Same goes for Google Photos.

user224,

Actually that’s what I understood the comic meme was about.
I thought he just got upset by her saying she’s not good about herself. You know, like “Come on, don’t say that!”

Just shows how well I can understand everything…
