this week i posted an image to the cohost global feed, a popular tag users created to make a global feed of posts, that logged when a user saw it in attempt to see what all data cohost leaks. i called this image the “eggbugbug.”

in reality, it collected less data than posting an imgur image would. an hour after i posted it, i got an email from what i assume is the one still-active cohost employee. they had deleted the page i posted it from for… what? they clearly didn’t know. (1/3)

someone found a privacy-related security flaw on cohost and now the cohost community is defending it.

the “it” being that anyone could install a facebook tracking pixel in their post. (you know, that thing facebook uses to collect more data outside their website than on their website.)
