Personally, I don't want crossposts from a whole other site. At that point just copy their own link and post it here. Unless your goal is to give Reddit even more traffic. If we were just to copy (steal) their posts, it would be enough to keep me here.
I was on Reddit for news. Whether it's mechanical keyboards, monitors, anything tech really, a game I play, new homekit devices or a new protocol, Apple stuff, streaming stuff, movies, sports or regular news. Sure I also did google some odd questions from time to time that would lead me to Reddit but it was far from my primary purpose. So for kbin to be a viable solution I just need people to buy into this. To start posting here instead whenever something happens or releases within one of my hobbies.
For now I use both but I'm much less on Reddit. I used to read a book every other day but I've considerably slowed down within the past year so most of the time I used to spend on Reddit has been spent elsewhere this past week.
Honestly, this idiot just doesn't make sense. I know that he's looking to increase revenue by any means but all his actions are making sure this quarter will be their worst in a while. I'd be surprised if he's not fired very soon.
Even though this is cool, it has nothing to do with the Reddit drama. The June numbers aren't out yet. I don't know if it updates the previous month on the first of the new month but for now it does explicitly say that the numbers are for May 2023.
They’re both built on ActivityPub and look very similar, but Kbin is talked about like an alternative to Lemmy instead of an instance of it. Is it a fork? Why is it better or worse?
I'd argue the opposite though. I lurked on Lemmy a bit to compare the 2 and despite having a lot more users, Lemmy looks less active. The front page has days old threads. Once federated, I expect Kbin to be the clear superior option.
Hey so I thought that I would start this with my own impatience. I have ordered a 64s on the 2nd day of the kickstarter and I'm just so tired of waiting. Apparently it was too popular so now orders will ship later than originally planned.

Lol. The game looks amazing and I'm excited but after waiting for so long i'll just wait a little longer for them to actually fix everything after the upcoming disastrous launch.
Although my first anime was back during early childhood (back when anime programme block was a regular thing in Indonesian television). Vulcan just really started following anime seriously during junior high school back in 2012 (classmates are into Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online during that time, and we often chatted about...
Besides the popular ones that were already on cable like Naruto, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon which were just cartoons to me back then, I think it's Sword Art Online. That's the first anime that I actually knew I was watching anime and went out of my way to watch.
Toronto Raptors star point guard Fred VanVleet will become an unrestricted free agent in July after declining his player option of $22.8 million for the 2023-24 season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Yeah at that price is was obviously declining. He'll be looking for a raise and I agree with you. It's best for us to move on and not enter a bidding war. We just can't afford it.
The fediverse has always grown in waves and we're at the start of one. It's worth looking at what tactics worked well in the past, to use them again or adapt them and build on them. It's also valuable to look at what went wrong or didn't work out as well in the past, to see if there are ways to do better....
Well, from Mastodon they can definitely learn to not look like Facebook. And Lemmy looks like an even worse version of New Reddit so that's why I'm here.
Yeah I think that they should make a Fediverse app where you can connect to multiple platforms like how Reddit allows you to connect multiple accounts. That would be one way to keep the whole Fediverse together. And I agree, a web app is usually always bad but this one seems even worse since it takes 1-2 minutes for any input to register and page to load. It's literally unusable for me right now.
Funny that you mention HxH! I just rewatched it but with my gf this time. It was one of my first so I had forgotten most of it and I was easier to please when I didn't know better. Promised her it was really good but in the end it was mid af. She completely hated the last chimera ant arc of course and it lasted way longer than I remembered even though nothing ever happens. It's such a slow arc. She surprisingly enjoyed it, the good parts at least. She's a fan of Hisoka but has no plan to rewatch this ever again and nor do I lol.
I rewatched Log Horizon seasons 1 and 2 when the 3rd released and that was still really good. I've rewatched the early seasons of MHA like twice because those were the best IMO. I've rewatched ReLife once. It's still one of the best animes I've ever seen. Very well made and written.
That's about it for now but I did think about rewatching Code Geass lately. I remember being annoyed a lot back then though and again, it was also one of my first so I might judge it even harsher now but whatever.
@Enutro1120 I wouldn't say that I'm a big Ehiopian fanboy but my favorite that isn't too expensive is the Yirgacheffe. But I've been leaning a bit more Brasilian lately. My favorite roaster has really good ones.
Aqara just released their new lock which seems similar enough to the A100 released in China and all the reviews that I've read and watched are raving about it. The first sub $200 Home Key lock....
Eh, I actually don't think you'll need Reddit all that much besides googling niche problems. I'm in quite a few hobbies and yet I found subs for all of them. Whether it's keyboards, a 20 year old game, coffee, espresso, box office or reading. Sure, they're not that niche but still, things have just begun here and so many magazines have been made already and the sub count keeps going up.
Don't forget that the people migrating the most aren't the lurkers but the most involved of us. Those who engaged on Reddit and were participating in those niche subs.
This is my new Apple sub. Reddit has been a mess for too long IMO. Even if they were to get their shit together it's too late. I'd rather stay here so hopefully a lot of people migrate and give this a chance.
