Genuary 4th: Pixels
Seemed like a good opportunity to try myself at 1D-Cellular Automata!
The initial state is on the top, iteration steps downward. With time I continuously change my rule.

Initially vertical stripes but the warp from the bottom up until it's just noise.

@noneuclideandreamer An interesting association combining Cellular Automata with pixel graphics.

I made this picture of a linear cellular automaton at a time when 640 x 480 was still a good screen resolution. It is an enlarged section of a 413 x 413 image.

And that program from around 2003 still works on today's computers. It is an attempt to 'breed images'. Inspired by the work of Karl Sims.

@noneuclideandreamer The aesthetics of Cellular Automata machines also work in high resolution. This is from 1994 and the code is written in C. The first thing this program does is killing DOS to take full advantage of the hardware.

Linear cellular automata, printed on paper, in black and white.
