Rashnet, in [Repost from FB] Water Temp Sender problems

Comment 1:

Is this problem new or has it been this way “forever”? The reason I ask is that new sending units need to be for one meter or dual meter. If you have a single meter sending unit and two meters hooked up to it (one at the helm, one in the engine room), you will get low readings.

Comment 2:

I have a1985 ,381 and that’s what my temperature gauges reads

Comment 3:

If the engines are raw water cooled, the thermostats should be 160 degrees max. If the thermostats have been removed or are stuck open they will run below 160 degrees. Have you verified the actual engine temperature at the manifold?

Comment 4:

After looking things over and reading all the great comments I’m chalking this up to the poor markings on the gauges. Really hard to know what the precise temp actually is.

Comment 5:

a temp gun aimed at the thermostat housing will give you a very accurate reading.

Comment 1:

Safety switch on the back side of the Cover period when you open it and drop the cover down into vertical position, the safety switch is disengaged. Disconnect all power, make it safe, get to that switch in the back of your stove And either Open it up and clean the contacts off inside it or replace the switch.

Remainder of comments are saying the same solution.

Rashnet, in [Repost From FB] Catalina 350 main bilge pump location

Comment 1:

Aft pump is under an access panel in the floor of the aft cabin. Forward pump under the access panel in the bow cabin floor. Check under the carpet if that’s what you have

Comment 2:

Thanks ... I found the FWD and AFT ones... which are smaller, but still looking for the larger pump somewhere under the salon.

Comment 3:

Have you found the discharge hose? I mean, if it's under the salon, the hose will lead you directly to it.

Comment 4:

I think mine is located between the engines

Comment 5:

My main bilge pump (BP1 on the 12v panel) is under a plywood shelf that a battery is sitting on. way FWD in the engine bay... basically under the fridge. The motor was stuck in place but manually turning it got it started again... now all is fine.
