Welcome

Welcome to m/Christianity! This is a home for true Christians as well as anyone else who feels drawn to Christ — even if it's just the beginning stages of a curiosity that could potentially lead you to salvation.

For those coming from Reddit, the sensibility of m/Christianity is comparable to r/TrueChristian. For those who'd prefer something more open and less dogmatic, have a look at:

The_Bird_King,

I'm glad an actual Christian was able to get this sub before the mods of r/Christianity were able to.

presbyterian,

Hi, when you say that you expect it to mirror /r/TrueChristian, do you mean in the sense that it's a community for Christians as opposed to questions about Christianity in general, or do you mean that it will take the same doctrinal positions that the moderators of /r/TrueChristian have? Personally, I think a magazine with the broad name of Christianity should be for all types of Christians, even those who disagree on interpretations of doctrine.

10A,

By "doctrinal" do you mean the Nicene Creed is respected? My experience in r/TrueChristian is that a wide diversity of viewpoints are represented, but yes, Christians do accept the Nicene Creed.

If you're asking whether we're free to respectfully disagree on topics that denominations have historically disagreed on, then yes! Of course, as long as discussion is respectful. Any discussions about various biblical interpretations or various understandings of Christianity are appropriate.

I don't mean to say this place should be identical to that place — we're not on reddit here. I just wanted to draw a comparison because r/Christianity (on reddit) is a place where Christianity is openly ridiculed and denied, while actual Christians there are a minority. By contrast, this should be a home for actual Christians — and all types of Christians, as we are all one in Christ — as well as anyone else who feels drawn to Christ.

presbyterian,

I mean with how TrueChristian bans users for "theological liberalism", a term they define incredibly loosely, and will remove and ban people for supporting ordaining women or affirming LGBTQ people/relationships. It also requires a Sola Scriptura perspective, which immediately rules out most of our Catholic and Orthodox siblings

10A, (edited )

I refer you to Rule 4:

The Bible has the last word. This is not a place to dispute the word of God.

And with regard to sola scriptura, specifically to Mark 7:6–9:

6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

That being said, everyone is welcome here provided we all respectfully follow the rules.

presbyterian,

“Everyone is welcome provided you follow the rules (which say you can’t disagree with my interpretation)”, okay

10A,

Not at all. I'm humble about my personal interpretations. God's word stands firm. We can debate premillennialism versus postmillennialism, or any other eschatological unknowns. We can debate which English translations "best" capture a particular verse. How about cessationism versus continuationism of charismata? My personal viewpoints on these issues are irrelevant, as far as moderation goes. Just be respectful of other viewpoints. OTOH, anyone who wants to reject the written word of God, is unwelcome here.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

(2 Timothy 3:1-5)
