Hello KBin /darksouls ! Is Velka's rapier as bad as I think?

Just got here from reddit. Been trying to progress through Ornstain & Smough with Velka's rapier on a DEX+INT build (RPing darkmoon avenger).

It's just so painful. Last time I did O+S I had qualana's blade and it really helped but I'm nearly SL60 and doing ~140 damage to them with the rapier.

Any advice or do I just need to be extremely patient and conservative in the first phase, taking down health super slowly?

I never used velka's rapier but iirc it scales with INT more than DEX, so you should have more points in INT to deal more damage with it.

Ornstein is weak to fire, and Super Smough too, and queelag's furysword deals fire damage, so that might explain why you're having a harder time in this playthrough

Maybe someone with more knowledge will come to help your more, but that's all I can think of to help, sorry !
