Exo-biology to fill the old bank account. Lets see how many credits we can earn in a week.

So I logged in last night after getting my new operating system to work with ED (ubuntu) and noticed that the useless crew of my fleet carrier once again managed to spend almost their entire annual budget on Indi Bourbon and Kamitra Cigars.

So with the tank empty, I have to set out and earn some credits, or ship the entire lot to the centre of Betelgeuse, to rot there until the supernova engulfs the system.

This exo-biology scam looks like a good option. Some research on the galactic nets later I found this handy guide. Down to Earth Astronomy is responsible for creating the commanders toolbox site. So I have a modicum of faith in the information being accurate.

I will be leaving on a two week expedition to scan as many of the stinking plants as possible. I will report back here as to the credits earned as soon as I get ASP washed and the Atermis suite cleaned up. Hopefully keeping my freeloading crew in Latvian brandy for another few months.

HidingCat,

Did they changed something? It's actually profitable now?

mack123,

It was hugely profitable a short while ago, Update 12 or 13 possibly. 100 million credits per hour according to some. I don't grind for max earnings, but expect a reasonable return on the time spent.

My main source of income was from the Thargoid war, where those earning levels are common. Humanities defence has made that harder to do now.

HidingCat,

I'll admit, I've been on a long break, so lots of new things to catch up on. Might do that and rank up my exobiology (I'm pretty sure I haven't broken the base rank yet) when I eventually start playing again. See you in the black some time CMDR. o7

o7 another fellow Linux CMDR!

I've had loads of fun with Exobiology. Although a G5'd Courier makes for a zippy and thrilling experience 😅

You may also want to check out: https://beta.spansh.co.uk/exobiology
and https://canonn.science/codex/organic-scanning-guide/

The spreadsheet linked from that second page really helped me cut down on time wasted looking for stinking low value plants and fungi (no matter how hard I search, none of the fungi I've scanned contains anything to turn my frown upside down in wondrous rainbow colours - have to go back to Sol for that).

And if you use EDMC, I highly recommend the Artemis Scanner Tracker plugin: https://github.com/Balvald/ArtemisScannerTracker

I can assure you from personal experience that Vista Genomics is not running a scam. How they can afford to pay so much is beyond me but they pay me enough not to care or question it.

Hope those freeloaders know what their commander does to make sure they still have a job! 🍻

mack123,

Thanks Commander. I will certainly have a look.

Love the photo 😉. Stunning composition.
