The words of the Soviet anthem,
"Stalin raised us on loyalty to the people. He inspired us to labor and to heroic deeds," decorated the ceiling, In 1961, during Khrushchev's Thaw, both the statue and those lines were removed. But when the 2008-2009 renovation was complete, the praise of Stalin had reappeared.”

"The refurbishing of the Kursk merco station in Moscow was especially controversial in Russia, to the point of catching the attention of the Western media." The metro station was initially opened to the public in 1950. Its design - a representation of a temple with a monument to Stalin in its rounda - symbolized the triumph of Russian troops in World War II.
