escapedgoat,

This is my understanding of how this song came into being; it has been supposedly confirmed by multiple people, but as far as I am concerned it's all internet hearsay.

This is basically a cover of a demo by a Greek band Statuses in Motion. One of the members, Billy Knight, tried to split off and ended up recording this song - originally written and performed by SIM - with a new band. But the song wasn't written by him so he didn't want it released. It was sent to the radio station by one of the other band members without his knowledge and ended up getting played. When first approached he denied it out of legal concerns but has since privately confirmed that the song is Statuses in Motion.

The original demo by SIM is lost and used different instrumentation - it was supposed to be included in their 1983 LP release but was cut.

annarchy8,

This is so cool. I taped songs off the radio in the 80s and got some weird shit, but nothing like this.

To get clean recordings of songs, Darius purposely removed dialogue from radio hosts, which is likely why the exact airplay date and the title are unknown.

Darius nooo
Darius is really a dynamic character. A protagonist but also, sometimes, his own antagonist. A hero and a villain. Perhaps his plan all along was to unleash such a mystery, tormenting generations.
