That’d be an interesting setup, remove all subsidies of cut-throat companies, and set a minimum standard to qualify for bailouts/grants/etc. if they really think they can make it, then let them try.
I’m currently looking for remote jobs, because as of September, my organization, against the will of 90% of employees, wants us to create a culture of collaboration in an open workspace.
Despite doing layoffs and budget cuts.
If you live in EU or USA, there’s quite a few things available, in tech and design mostly. But not if you’re outside of those places. So it’s a shit race to the shit bottom and their attitude is like, “be happy you have job, fuckface.”
could have fooled me: i switched jobs because the new one was wfh, but then they changed their minds and said they’re going to start forcing a hybrid schedule. so i switched to another new job that was also wfh and then they too decided to force a hybrid schedule.
talking to others and reading up on other similar experiences online imply that return to the office, at least as a hybrid schedule, is inevitable.
Most businesses who call for return to office are dying because they can’t work their employees to death. They have this mentality of “I’m paying you, therefore, I’ll need to get my money’s worth. I have to work you to death”. They think people are just sitting around all day at home. Fucking let them sit around all day, as long as all the work is done, I don’t give a fuck.
“They are happier, just as productive, if not more so, you don’t need to pay rent for office space, and you can lay off half your middle managers, so why are you upset?” “But doctor, I’M middle management!”
😂 those useless managers who make 6 figures need to just fucking go. I work from home and I hardly ever hear from my manager, unless he wants to bitch about something stupid.
I share the viewpoint that, as an employer, your team should reflect the demographic you are trying to serve but it goes further than just that. Serving a demographic that you dislike or despise is a sure way to have tonedeaf communications and the outcomes that ensue. As a person, you should not have to choose products or services based on whether the CEO and company materially or substantively support your worldview.
Its only going to get worse from here. Tbh what we will see is all the zombie companies that should have failed years ago finally go under. Small recessions are a good thing as it clears the underbrush out of the business forest while giant downturns are like a fire that has tons of underbrush to burn and gets hot enough to burn the big trees too.
