The new looting system is my favorite part of 2.0

I dunno if it's just due to having played some starfield a week ago that annoyed me so much but I absolutely love the new looting experience in cyberpunk. Instead of throwing tons of random worthless garbage at the player, the loot you find now actually feels manageable and rewarding.

  • They removed all the arbitrary levels and now you just have 5 tiers of equipment (and they each have a + upgraded version). All gear with the same name and the same tier has the same stats.

  • Enemies drop way less loot. They don't drop clothing and weapons are often "broken", picking them up just gives you some basic components so you can pretty much ignore them

  • We get less loot but what we get is worth more - i regularly thousands of eddies for pawning a single weapon

  • Fewer spammy consumables - no more grenades, airhypos and drinks everywhere. The few booster consumables that now exist have very long durations and feel powerful and useful, and food/drinks can be consumed in combat so there's no reason to carry it around

  • you can upgrade crafting materials (and craft in general) without any perks. crafting is more accessible to everyone and part of the game, proper (i just dont see if its intentionally missing for quickhack components or why i couldnt find it)

Inventory management was my most hated part of pre-2.0 cyberpunk and I am so happy they put some effort into fixing it. I really hope more studios follow the example instead of creating those nightmare management situations that starfield has...
