I just picked up this LP and I’m digging it. Three tracks, recorded live in 1961, with Eric Dolphy, McCoy Tyner, Reggie Workman and Elvin Jones. It’s a bit further out there than I’m used to but it’s fine. There’s not a boring measure in the 35 1/2 minutes here.

I loved everything about this movie as a kid, but especially this swinging, scat-filled tune. Years later when I’d grown, I found my love for other similar artists, including Cab Calloway, Slim Gaillard, Benny Goodman, and yes, Louis Prima. Thanks to Disney, the Sherman Brothers (song writers), Phil Woods and Prima for the kid...

I just picked up the CD of this in a local store. It’s fantastic. Chet is just like you’d think for 1979. The production is great. The accompanists are solid. Mellow and low key throughout.

Let’s play along. Can we name all of the quotes in all of the solos? I got Work Song and Birdland in the piano solo.
