Implant, in Geographical origin of various agricultural crops.

Tomatoes are not Italian!

NewEnglandBlueberry, in New England Regional Transportation Map

Here's the source for those who want a higher resolution.

JakeBacon, in An Incredibly Detailed Map of the World’s Religions

Very interesting. I've known that the southern part of Africa is a popular destination for Christian missionaries but I don't think I knew just how popular until I saw this map.

tkk13909, in I don't know why but I love the Peirce Quincuncial projection

@T_the_G It took me a moment to figure out how it works but yeah that's pretty cool!

This is beautiful. I wanna print it out and hang it on my wall.

EmergencyPotato, in I don't know why but I love the Peirce Quincuncial projection

Mesmerizing

Trafficone, in Map of a bathroom on a train

This is a tactile map, it's designed to help people with vision issues navigate the bathroom. Public tactile maps are super awesome!

newde, in Ethnic map of Middle East

Lovely map. With some caveats tho. One being the exaggerated representation of Kurds, especially in central Turkey.

It also glosses over the immense differences between Arabs, who besides language don’t have that much in common. (And even the differences in language can be discussed)

Differences between Levantine Arabs and Omani Arabs are perhaps comparable to Persians and Tajiks, who are separate categories.

CanadaPlus,

(And even the differences in language can be discussed)

Arabic is more like a language family. Consider that it started diverging only a few centuries after Latin did.

ScherPegnau, in Map of what different Europeans identify with most.

I can explain Budapest - we hate our government with a burning passion, and the government hates the city.

zksmk, in The 30 largest countries (and territories) by total area, roughly to scale (thanks to the Dymaxion map projection).
pogbally, in Population density of Africa (2022), credit to @milos_agathon on Twitter

Egypt looks to have significantly higher population then other countries. It would be interesting to overlay economic data like GDP or income levels.

amanneedsamaid, in Doughnut density of the US

New England states with a Dunkin' every block take the crown on this one.

knova, in Africa's third longest river takes a crazy long route to get to the sea from its source in southern Guinea.

That is interesting. Is that part of Guinea (and the border of Sierra Leone) mountainous?

zksmk,

Kind of, yes. Surprisingly not that much. But enough to divert all the local water northward apparently.

What’s interesting is that all the other surrounding water flows southward. Burkina Faso even used to be called Upper Volta, because of the largest river there.

knova,

Wow. Thanks for the info!
