“The foundations of our streets

This collection of Melbourne survey maps is a missing piece in the story of Melbourne’s development. They give an account of streetscapes, civic spaces and social development from a pivotal time in our city’s history.

The maps are in archive, waiting to be conserved, catalogued and digitised. They are a treasure trove of history with value for researchers, families and students alike.”

DirigibleProtein,

Is there something missing? No details on how I personally can help.

Oops, I seem to have overridden the link with the picture. I’ll try to fix the post, but the link is appeal.slv.vic.gov.au

A number of years ago I was able to do a behind the scenes tour of the library including the archive room. They do amazing work, much of which is very detailed, painstaking and time consuming. It would be a terrible pity to have our history decay because of the lack of resources to preserve it.
