"Posts" go in the microblog section of the community - it's a little bit more like making a tweet and is good for quick, short-form content. They don't have titles, you just write a some text and hit "go".
"Articles" are like traditional reddit text posts, where you have a title and a body. They show up in the "threads" section of the community.
